Bugs? Happens the morning after[edit]

Don't know if this is a bug or not but when I chose to get married it didn't happen the next morning, but the morning after. --198.54.202.194 19:18, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

happend to me too. Puffin 08:41, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
I just checked this out, it appears that if you talk to Maramal after 12:00AM (say, 1am Tuesday morning), he considers "tomorrow at dawn" to be "Wednesday morning" - not "six hours from now". Either speak to him before midnight, or else just wait the extra day. --72.211.207.48 22:29, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Bug - Maramal doesn't start quest[edit]

I want to get married but when I go to Maramal for the quest,it does not show up.How do i fix this? — Unsigned comment by Natsu (talkcontribs) at 07:18 on May 22, 2012

Have you spoken to the person you're getting married to? Do you have any mods installed? Vely►Talk►Email 16:50, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Similar problem also, went through the marriage and the quest didn't display in the log - it had the "attend your wedding ceremony" under the Misc, but it didn't create the "The Bonds of Matrimony" as a quest on the main logs.. is there a command to force the quest to appear? (sided with Vampires, want to turn spouse to Vampire ^^.) the setstage command does nothing because the main quest isn't there.. :\ 101.168.42.164 03:56, 18 October 2012 (GMT)
Just had an issue that he didn't offer me an amulet, but then I realized I had one, so I put it on and asked my chosen to marry me just fine. AbsolutgrndZer0 (talk) 11:15, 15 February 2013 (GMT)
Same exact issue. I've done marriage before with the same set of mods in a previous game, but never with this character. Character got engaged just fine, fiance is still enthusiastic and talking about the wedding, quest arrow points to Maramel who is still there, but he offers no "schedule wedding" dialogue. Just "donate" or "find out about Mara". SO frustrated. Went back many saves to see if it was something I did trying to work around the Markath mess. Only things I can think are that I console pushed one of the daedric quests through so I wouldn't have to kill a follower, or I have two amulets of mara in my inventory. So frustrated.
To elaborate, I have the fully updated game plus the 3 DLC, plus glowing ore, Dovahkiin hideout and lockpick pro. All of which worked fine before with marrying Mjoll in a different character's game. In this one, trying to marry Onmund, and failing. Which is too bad, as he's adorable about it. I tried both after completing the priestess's questline and before.

missing spouse[edit]

Can spouses just dissapear in skyrim? I am married to Balimund the smith in Riften. I never moved him from his home, but checked all of mine just in case. His apprentice keeps asking me if I've met him. I never received an inheritance letter. I tried to get remarried and that didn't work. He's just gone. Can anyone fill me in Deanmakoma 17:43, 24 July 2012 (UTC)deanmakoma

And just as mysteriously as he disappeared he is back. Deanmakoma 11:31, 31 July 2012 (UTC)deanmakoma
Hey. Same thing happened to me I married Roggi Knot-Beard and I wanted to get rid of him so I toke him out to the middle of nowhere and killed him. Never received an inheritance letter either. So I thought to look for him so I did. No luck. So I tried placeatme console command that will bring an npc character to you with the REF ID and it worked! Problem was that he didn't know me had all the normal conversations....then dissappered again. I don't know what to do either so day I thought wait! I can rest the The Bonds of Marriage quest use resetquest with the quest ID. That didn't work.

Marring Companions[edit]

I was curious I heard that Aela will take off every once and a while when left at home do all the Companions do the same or more specifically Ria? --SPMcKinneyTCE 06:38, 2 November 2012 (GMT)

Ria does. I think all of them do, they go out wandering in Skyrim and fighting. If you've married a Circle member then you can find your spouse using the give-me-a-radiant-quest objective in Miscellaneous (well you can find all Circle members, usually the others will be in Jorrvaskr so you can ignore them). --Morrolan (talk) 23:27, 16 December 2012 (GMT)

Clone bug[edit]

While I was waiting for my wedding, I was sitting on the front bench of the temple. I waited (I used wait command until 1 hour before the weding then I waited without the wait button). The wedding didn't start when it should (the guests didn't show up), then I stood up and then the ceremony began. The ceremony was normal, I got married, and the guests left the temple. It was that moment when I realized something odd: I was cloned and I could talk to my exact clone (he was saying the same dialogue as the priests: 'congratulations to your wedding'). I have some pictures as well if needed. My clone was unable to be pickpocketed or be hit by a sword. I left the temple and returned, he was still there. Then I traveled to Riften stabels and returned, my clone was still there. — Unsigned comment by 86.101.32.61 (talk) at 18:54 on 29 January 2013

EDIT: browsing the web I realized this happened to others as well, but it haven't been reported here until now. This should be addressed by the unofficial patch. — Unsigned comment by 86.101.32.61 (talk) at 18:57 on 29 January 2013
EDIT2: I reproduced this bug without sitting on the bench, I even left the temple and returned when it was wedding time. It seems something else causes the bug. — Unsigned comment by 86.101.32.61 (talk) at 19:32 on 29 January 2013

Bug - ceremony doesn't initiate[edit]

When I get to the ceremony part of the quest, Maramal never initiates the vows. — Unsigned comment by 70.171.43.105 (talk) at 21:04 on 28 February 2013

It used to work just fine. then, one day it didn't. When it first happened I had nothing different - same mm, same order, no new mods added, nothing deleted (or unchecked). Nothing. Then I decided to uninstall everything and use a diff mm
The problem/bug I have is that getting married won't finish. unofficial patches are in. The Wedding Ceremony, I walk in the chapel and the game 'walks me down the isle" and will not continue. It doesn't freeze, It's just the "this person is busy" pops up when I try to talk.

Bug with Aela's home dialogue[edit]

I married Aela. After she says "You could stay with me" no dialogue window comes up for me to respond. — Unsigned comment by 67.160.139.232 (talk) at 21:10 on 17 June 2013

Have you tried reloading, or exiting the building then talking to her, or even waiting for an hour then trying again? Any of those are worth trying. — ABCface 21:15, 17 June 2013 (GMT)
I married Farkas and same thing. After the ceremony he goes on about marriage not being what he thought it would, and where will we live? Then nothing. I had UFO mod loaded up, but took that off. Same thing. Pollockjaw (talk) 17:34, 30 November 2013 (GMT)

Beginning Quest Bug[edit]

I can't seem to start the quest. I've spoken to Maramel about marriage, received an Amulet of Mara, and completed the necessary quest for my spouse, but the option does not show up for marriage. To answer easy questions, yes I have several mods installed, but I don't believe I have any that should screw up this quest. I tried setstage 20 but nothing worked. Does anyone know of anything that can help?

Thanks in advance, Dyers Regret (talk) 04:46, 13 July 2014 (GMT)

Good lord, I'm intelligent. I realized that I didn't equip the Amulet. Sorry for the confusion, but I wanted to leave this up as a small flag for anyone who's experiencing this. Always check to make sure the amulet is equipped. Dyers Regret (talk) 06:56, 13 July 2014 (GMT)

Having your spouse follow you seems to screw with the whole thing[edit]

I've had the ceremony randomly fail before it was even supposed to begin, I've had the ceremony never advance even twenty four hours later...the only mods I have that could possibly modify spouse scripts are the unofficial patches. For best results, I recommend dismissing your fiance before starting the quest, then *keeping* them dismissed until after you've made your decision on where to live. Possible wedding guests[edit]

I wondered which NPCs can appear as your wedding guests. Is there any complete list? Or are all NPC (like friendly ones, the ones that don't attack on sight) possible to appear as the wedding guests? 93.91.51.153

As far as I know, any NPC that considers you or your spouse a friend can apper at your wedding. There are surely some NPCs for which it is impossible to have either being true, but the list of all possible NPCs would be far too long to be of any real value. -- SarthesArai Talk 21:19, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Fiance Doesn't Show, Priest is Busy[edit]

I'm playing on Xbox so no mods or console commands, and I've been trying to marry Mjoll the Lioness. I arranged the whole thing and it was all set, and then I waited 24 hours outside the temple. When I stepped inside, Mjoll wasn't there and when I tried to talk to Maramol, it just said he's busy. I tried reloading a save from before I talked to Maramol, but no luck there either. If I wait another 24, the wedding has failed, my kid and housecarl are all mad at me, Maramol tells me to get out and Mjoll is still nowhere to be found but apparently it's my fault that my fiance decided not to show up at our wedding. Also Mjoll and Aerin are completely gone. I can't find them anywhere. It's like they fell off the world. Does anyone know what the deal with this is? Or how to fix it w/out console commands? 65.60.196.84 03:23, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

I finally got it to work, but I'm still not sure why... 65.60.196.84 03:32, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

Bug with visiting your spouse's house[edit]

I married Sylgja, but did not have a house at the time, so I chose to live at her house. I got the misc quest 'Visit your spouse's house.' There was no quest pointer for this, but I didn't see that as a problem, as I knew where her house was. I haven't gone to her house yet, but suddenly the quest was completed, just like that. I have yet to see whether this will cause any problems. 81.231.143.37 07:10, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

What happens if you attend your wedding ceremony with a follower?[edit]

One has little influence on which guests come to one's wedding in Riften. But if you take a follower with you, what would happen when you enter the temple? Would they sit down to the other guests? Would they stand nearby the couple? Or would they be unable to enter the temple? Hopefully not, for I wish a certain follower to be my best man in the wedding. 213.142.96.202 08:52, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
