new racial ability for nords

"I went with the Nord race. Mostly because they are 50 percent resistant to fire," i took that from here, noteworthy? it also mentions stags, i think we should start or at least sandbox a bestiary. (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 07:53, 1 September 2011 (UTC))

I think that's probably a mistake. Nords in Oblivion were 50% resistant to frost; in Morrowind they were 100% resistant to frost and 50% to shock. It would be really odd for them to usurp a traditional Dunmer resistance when they've never had anything like that before. And "No" to a bestiary for now. We don't have enough information. rpeh •TCE 08:54, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Details on Essential Characters

Here is an interview which sheds some light on how essential characters will be handled http://portal.aecorp.in/2011/09/more-details-about-skyrim/ Fin Dova Feyn 10:55, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

lycanthropy

I saw that in skyrim they will have were-wolves... just wondering will they have other lycantharopes in skyrim(ex:were-bears, where-boars) and also i herd that when a were-wolf is in human form their eyes are yelloish-white and in combat they tend to growl and wear fur armor so does this mean this dude is a were-wolf http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:SR-WarriorHammer_wLegal.jpg N0rdm8n 9:02, 4 September 2011

If you found something stating that there are were-wolves put a link so we can all see, However I have seen nothing confirming or denying were-creatures of any kind. In fact the only interview I'm aware of they skirted around that question. --Zar Pof 02:20, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

I found this quote which comes from the Elder Scrolls wiki:

"Skyrim is the most rugged region in the continent; not only containing five of the highest peaks in Tamriel, Skyrim also is very snowy and cold, and home to all manner of LYCANTHROPES, with them being most common in the north."

So that means that there is a strong chance of becoming a werewolf but it has NOT been confirmed OR denied in any way.79.97.40.245 15:40, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Players will have the opportunity to join the Imperial Legion

Stated here http://theskyrimblog.com/?p=1310 This sounds exciting, I've never played Morrowind so this is my first time to play as a Legionnaire. Fin Dova Feyn 11:39, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

[2] this one mentions bounty hunters as well as the legion (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 13:11, 9 September 2011 (UTC))

This: http://n4g.com/news/841588/joining-the-imperial-legion-in-skyrim-confirmed confirmes that you can join the legion just like in MorrowindRIM 13:07, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

I'd wait until Bethesda actually comes out and confirms it though. Because the journalist did not actually follow up on the quest it may have been related to the Main Quest, or have been 'joining' the Imperial Legion for a quest, rather than joining as a member. The actual mention of the Legion can be found here: "We were offered a quest to join the Imperial Legion here though, so it’s not all doom and gloom."[3] --OblivionDuruza 13:24, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

possible lycanthropy?!

I found a reference to lycanthropy on the other skyrim site...does this mean there are werewolves or are they jumping to conclusions, I'm so confused. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Lycanthropy_%28Skyrim%29

Let's see, there are no references, there are only two sentences on the article, and at the top of the page it says "This article or section contains information about a scheduled or expected future product. It is likely to contain information of a speculative nature and the content may change dramatically as the product release approaches and more information becomes available. See the Skyrim Pages for more information.". The keyword there is speculative. A quick Google search on this topic returned no news stories mentioning Lycanthropy. While I wouldn't take this evidence as a confirmation that there won't be werewolves (I wasn't very thorough in my search), it doesn't seem like Bethesda has commented in such a way to either confirm that they will or won't be in the game. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:15, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

without reference I can confirm off the top of my head that there's something like 5 major cities and 15 minor cities. If someome disputes that I can go look for the interview I saw it in. But you could always take my word for it. --Riandrake 13:30, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

This particular version might be fan-made, but the map itself appeared in the Todd-Howard-walks-around-Bethesda-HQ video. You can see the original (from a screengrab) here. rpeh •TCE 22:45, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, back to my original question, is there anything referencing 15 towns, instead of 8-9? the official map seems far to vague to prove any suitable references. Vos 00:29, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Alchemy

Bone Meal + Blue Mountain Flower share the property "Fortify Conjuration" = a magic-boosting potion from http://www.oxm.co.uk/33391/features/skyrim-nine-things-to-do-first/

The phrasing is likely just a poor choice of words. It seems to indicate that it creates a resist poison potion, a fairly standard effect for it to have. It does seem, however, that alchemy labs will no longer be portable.--97.81.109.45 15:11, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

quest page

we should start a quest page for the golden claw, we know pretty much the whole quest, thoughts? (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 05:42, 13 September 2011 (UTC))

I'm not wild about that idea. The quest looks like one that's always set in one place rather than a Radiant quest that might move around, so we know the location, and we know about freeing Arvel the Swift, and we know about the door. What we don't know is the actual walkthrough part. The video has huge gaps, and we don't know that it's all set on one level, what traps or ambushes there are. We can't be sure about the reward. Yes there's a word wall and what looks like a boss fight, but note that there's never a "Quest Complete" message (unless I was too mesmerised by the graphics to see it). There are far too many unknowns right now. rpeh •TCE 08:11, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
We also know that Lucas, a shop owner in Riverwood, gives you the quest after the claw was stolen from his shop and that his sister shows you the way out of town. The quest page could be started now and left blank to make it easier to do when Skyrim's out. RIM 17:31, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
That's exactly what I wouldn't like to see. An article that just stops in the middle. Anyway what's the point? Nobody is going to be looking up walkthroughs for this quest, because the game hasn't even been released yet. Kitkat xxx TalkContribE-mail 17:41, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
I didn't mean have a whole quest page based on what we know, I only meant that there could be the title and location. That way when Skyrim comes out there will be no need to start a whole new page, in other words, the quest page will be slightly easier to make later on. Sorry if I caused confusion or anything like that. RIM 21:01, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi :)

Hello, I have been lurking on this wiki for years now and I figure that I might try to contribute now. I have a statement to make about draugr, they appeared in amny screenshots and previews, however they are not mentioned in the list of hostile monsters. Skeletons are already mentioned, but I am fairly sure that they are different monsters, because you can see a skeleton in a screenshot here http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/skyrim-playstation-the-officia/1219090 Also I'm not sure about using the term non-hostile while describing giants because in some articles (http://www.dualshockers.com/2011/09/02/pax-11-the-worst-part-about-skyrim-was-only-getting-an-hour-to-play/ and http://www.gamesradar.com/spelunking-giant-hunting-swimming-and-looting-skyrim/?page=2) it states that they will attack you if you try to converse with them. Perhaps you could rephrase it to something like "will not attack on sight" or something like that (I'm sure you guys can come up with better wording because you are smarter than me :P) Anyways thank you for listening and making this wiki great :) — Unsigned comment by Ututu222 (talkcontribs) on 13 September 2011

This has been suggested before, but it's a case where few words are better than more. Hostile means that the entity attacks on sight, and non-hostile means it doesn't. There shouldn't be a need to clarify that things will attack if you attack them first because that's true of most things. rpeh •TCE 07:50, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Skeletons/ Draugrs should be added if they haven't already though, I have also seen them in a PAX video. Thanks. RIM 12:44, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Collecter's Edition

Just a quick question, where can I pre-order Skyrim's Collector's Edition. I am looking for a reliable retailer. 112.201.104.218 12:11, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

You can pre-order it from the Elder Scrolls official website http://www.elderscrolls.com/
RIM 19:37, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Isn't the Collector's Edition sold out? --Legoless 20:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I just had a go and GAME (im from the UK so I picked a UK site) let me pre-order one, well put it in my basket and then asked for credit card details. I don't know about else where though . Unless it is indeed sold out. I think the Main Page states something about 'A Collectors Edition' being sold out. Although if im not mistaken, there is two different 'Collectors Editions' out. --KizC ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 20:12, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Someone edit the page and tell that you CAN be a vampire in the game, said in this video: www.g4tv.com/videos/55161/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim-gameplay-preview-and-vampire-reveal/

More new info

OXM info at http://www.gamepur.com/news/5302-fresh-skyrim-details-oxm.html shows that enemies run away when scared, necromancers can resurrect chickens and harvest their eggs and it looks like there will be some new screenshots coming soon. RIM 15:18, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

I also want to point out that in the second of the three demo/trailers released a few days ago that if you pause at 4:20 you can see that the staff has a damage rating of one. This may mean that staves can be used as melee weapons because in oblivion light effects do no damage. RIM 15:52, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Dragon Shouts

The names of six Shouts have been revealed in the demo released: Fire Breath, Ice Form, Slow Time, Storm Call, Unrelenting Force, Whirlwind Sprint. They seem to require the use of three dragon souls to 'master' once learned from a word wall. They also seem to have a recharge requirement, though the unit indicated by the values is a mystery, likely time-based. The presence of three values and three 'words' in the shout likely means that they can be charged or that they have greater values based on mastery level. 97.81.109.45 15:20, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

When you unlock a dragon shout you hold down the shout button to use it. The longer you hold it down, the more powerful the shout, either level one, two or three. The numbers are the ammount of seconds it takes to recharge. Example: If you hold down the shout button for one second you will use the first level, hold it down for two seconds and you use level two etc. The higher the level used, the longer the shout takes to recharge. You unlock a shout power,on level one, by finding a word wall and you increase it's levels by spending dragon souls on it. Dragon shouts have three levels to them, for example Storm Call's last level is called wrath. all of this can be seen in the recent demo. RIM 16:05, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Diseases Confirmed

Diseases have been confirmed in at least two videos. One being the Vampire reveal (in which to become a vampire you must contract the disease Porphyric Hemophilia) and in the 20 minute demo (in which you can actually see the player contract a disease called Rock Joint from a wolf.) — Unsigned comment by Joshdaman123 (talkcontribs) at 22:26 on 18 September 2011 (GMT)

Yes, I had noticed the Rock Joint notification. Although I don't think "diseases confirmed" is worth mentioning on the article. --Legoless 21:29, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Adding items and whatnot

I'm sure many of you have seen the Skyrim game play video and the items and item stats that were shown in it. So I was thinking since it's only a few months until it's released we could go ahead and post items and stats. What do you think? Do I need special access to edit the main Skyrim page? — Unsigned comment by Jobatett (talkcontribs) on 19 September 2011

We're waiting until Skyrim is released before we add that kind of thing. Kitkat xxx TalkContribE-mail 14:39, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I don't really see the point in this. Once we get the game and the CS we can make an exhaustive and accurate list of every item. Till then, creating a page with huge gaps and information which may potentially change from now to Skyrim's release is just a waste of time and effort. --SerCenKing Talk 14:42, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Slow-Mo decapitations and getting drunk

This http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113129-Slow-Mo-Decapitations-Earn-Skyrim-an-M-Rating confirms that you can decapitate enemies, enemies scream in agony and you can get drunk. RIM 17:48, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

It also talks about whores... doesn't ever say that you can hire them, just that there are and that leaves the possibility. This also confirms it being rated M... anywhere to put all this stuff? SKADOOSHHH 18:01, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Not really, it's the sort of thing we would really want on the Skyrim page is it? And, as far as I am aware, we wait until Bethesda announce something officially, whether that may be on the web or in one of the many events they are holding at the moment, before putting anything on the main page. And since no Skyrim pages may be created, well thats the only place it could possibly (which seems unlikely) go :) although something about the rating could go up. If there isn't anything already --KizC ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 18:44, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
I agree with KizC, I just wanted to inform people who are interested. I think decapitations should look pretty cool. The M rating was added very recently onto the main page. RIM 21:44, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

I have already uploaded the Box Art of Skyrim with an M before Legoless did, but why is his version used I mean there is no difference betwwen my version and his Fin Dova Feyn 23:58, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
As Legoless Collector's Edition Box Art.jpg&diff=724760&oldid=724757 explained when he uploaded his version of the image, it doesn't contain the "Games for Windows" label. --NepheleTalk 00:04, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
My version did not contain the "Games for Windows" label. It is exactly the same as the version uploaded by Legoless. Fin Dova Feyn 00:12, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Collector's Edition Box Art.jpg this is the version uploaded by Legoless that Nephele was referring to. Compare it to Collector's Edition Box Art.jpg your version and you'll notice the GFWL label. However, I don't think that's the image you're talking about. You're talking about this one, correct? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:20, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
I am not talking about the Collector's Edition box art, I am talking about the regular box art. The box art I uploaded was the exactly the same as the one Legoless uploaded, I uploaded and posted mine before Legoless did. Then it seems that he posted another one exactly the same as mine and now the version I posted has been deleted. Fin Dova Feyn 00:31, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Your version was deleted because it was under a different file name from the original and had no licensing. I reuploaded it under the correct name. I don't see how attribution matters, as it isn't unique work. --Legoless 00:34, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
My version had licensing, I got it from a public site and even asked the man in charge if I could use it.Fin Dova Feyn 00:37, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
It didn't use this. You needn't have asked a site owner if we could host it as it falls under fair use, but if you can remember the URL then I don't see the harm in mentioning it in the file's summary. Although I doubt the owner got permission from Bethesda in the first place. --Legoless 00:40, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I forgot to use the template, I am sorry. You could have just fixed the licensing instead of out right deleting my version and uploading your version which were exactly the same. Did your source get permission from Bethesda?Fin Dova Feyn 00:47, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

() (e/c)The bottom line is that revised versions of images should be uploaded using the existing image name -- especially since the wiki history allows all old versions of the image to be compared in one place. Furthermore, the duplicate image was speedily deleted in accordance with the Deletion policy on redundant images. One good thing to come of this discussion, though, is that I noticed that the box art thumbnails hadn't fully refreshed when the M version was uploaded, so the RP version was still showing up. I've forced the image to refresh, so everyone should now be seeing the M version. --NepheleTalk 00:48, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

The reason why I didn't compile it with the older copies is that I simply didn't know how to sorry for that. Alright, thanks for your time Nephele, AKB and Legoless. Fin Dova Feyn 00:57, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Elk

Are listed as hostile creatures. Is this a mistake or is Skyrim populated by unusually aggressive deer? 124.182.214.39 07:24, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

They attack if you attack them so technically they are hostile. Also giants are not actually hostile unless you attack them. RIM 15:31, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Hostile would be attacking on site. You can't "not actually be hostile unless...", you either are hostile or you're not. Giants and elks are non-hostile units.
Actually some are hostile/non hostile. Giants are non-hostile units? Did you see any of the gameplay demos? RIM 15:38, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
i read a 1 hour play thing that ended with him getting mobbed by hostile giants then the server froze from too many people using it, and another one where he found 2 giants hanging around a burning house and he got killed 4 times before going another way so giants can be hostile (Eddie The Head 15:45, 23 September 2011 (UTC))
Exactly, anyway back to your original question, Elk are extremely agressive during mating season and if you threaten their young, the males won't hesitate to impale you with their antlers. The deer in Oblivion were actually hostile but had zero confidence and so always ran away, which is why you can never wait near them. RIM 15:58, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Disable compass and map markers etc.

This http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/3001/article/skyrim-allows-you-to-hide-ui-features-new-speechcraft-system/

reveals that the health, stamina, magicka bars and compass and quests markers can be disabled.

It also reveals that alchemy can only be done at specific places, not on the move and slow-mo finishing moves can be disabled if you want. The quest markers should definately be added given the debates on the internet, now that you have the choice of using or disabling quest markers hopefully people will be happy.
