Bugs[edit]

FYI - I came upon this word wall after previously acquiring the shout. I still got the word wall "chant" you typically only hear on newly discovered word walls (at least that's when I normally hear it.) There was a new dragon and the chest had respawned. Obviously, nothing happened when I approached the word wall. Bootstomp 01:55, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

I hear that sound on my PC too. Additional, that respawned dragon never gives a second soul, not even after 30 days. 84.56.232.0 17:46, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
To me (on PC), the chest here keeps respawning with random items, that are often very valuable: powerful staffs, etc. I used to visit there once in a while, save, open the chest, and if it is nothing too valuable in it, rleoad the save and try again. I often get a loot of over 5k gold. No new dragons appear.
I am also on PC. The chest respawns with valuable items (nothing spectacular) at very long intervals -- I would guess several months in game time. The dragon respawns at a faster rate, but does not give a soul after the first kill. And the chanting never stops. --174.6.51.17 12:38, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
On my 3rd visit to this word wall after Dragon Rising I one-shot-killed the dragon here, as I had the previous 2 times, but this time the dragon would not disintegrate nor give up a soul. I was able to loot the dragon and when I checked the chest here the items had respawned from before. I tried fast traveling back here and also save/reloading but neither worked. This is after the 1.4 update and I'm playing on Xbox. Corellian Queen 03:36, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Respawning dragons at Dragon Lairs never give more than one soul. Wolok gro-Barok 18:03, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
On X360, I just came across this place, cleared dragon and priest, but won't learn shout. Tried save/load, fast travel, and closest save still has problem. — Unsigned comment by 71.237.207.117 (talk) at 07:25 on 1 June 2012 (GMT)

The "crash landing" of the dragon is scripted[edit]

Even if you manage a "sneak one hit kill" with the bow, the dragon will still rise, fly a quick circle and crash dead into the wall. — Unsigned comment by 91.65.41.96 (talk) at 16:28 on 1 January 2012 (GMT)

Not only scripted but badly scripted. I got a sneak one hit kill with a poisoned arrow, and the dragon flew to the wall, hovered, the trench of its crashing was carved into the land, and finally the dragon's corpse was plopped onto the end of the trench. Quite a ridiculous spectacle. --174.6.51.17 12:35, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps it's how I did it, or maybe it's patch 1.5, but I saw no crash landing today. I approached the site from behind the dragon and hit him from that angle. I did not one-shot him, so he flew down to meet me on the hillside. I used Dragonrend to keep him in place as I killed him off, and once dead he just did the typical upper body raising and falling before coming to rest. --72.88.199.175 22:13, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
I have Dawnguard installed, and I still had a scripted crash landing. The first time I went here with a character the crash landing was very natural. This time: the dragon was very weak, and when it had only about under a fifth of its health left after taking an arrow while hovering it circled around to start the scripted crash. It hit the side of the slope its supposed skid up to the word wall, and appeared to crash there permanently. Until the rest of the scripted ground effect appeared and it followed it like a rocket-propelled train.--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 07:01, 14 December 2012 (GMT)

Dragon resting on invisible wall[edit]

When I look up at Shearpoint from ground level, I can see the Dragon but not the wall, making it look like it's slumped over midair. Can anyone else see this? Kaaldutoor 22:35, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Your observation might have something to do with your video settings, especially view distance settings, as some structures or objects might be set to be visible from afar and some will not become visible before you close up. Lowering parts or all of these settings makes the game able to run on more moderately configured computers than would else have been possible. —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:36, 12 November 2012 (GMT)
I have the same problem. Walked up to it, all the words are there, floating as if on glass, but no wall. And the dragon looked rather amusing. It's never happened on any of my other games, and the video settings haven't changed, so not sure what's happening with it... I would share a picture of it but no idea how to... AyaHawkeye (talk) 23:04, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
How close were you? —MortenOSlash (talk) 05:05, 13 May 2013 (GMT)
Right up next to it. Got the shout and walked through it too! It's just the floating words, nothing else. AyaHawkeye (talk) 21:36, 13 May 2013 (GMT)

Krosis Non-Aggression Bug[edit]

As mentioned briefly in the Bugs section of the Krosis Character page, under certain circumstances Krosis will become non-aggressive towards the player even when being attacked, making the battle far easier than it normally should be.

My fight with him was a bit of a joke, and occurred thusly:

  • I approached Shearpoint from the south, going into Sneak when I saw the dragon sitting atop the Word Wall. Then showered it with arrows and drew it back down the hill to the south where I finished it off.
  • Feeling pretty confident after a fairly easy fight, I marched up to the Word Wall, Quicksaved as Krosis rose from his Sarcophagus, and proceeded to get pwned in seconds by his Atronach and direct spells.
  • Quickloaded and rapidly retreated, circling around to approach the Wall from the north, with the rock face close to my right hand.
  • Krosis approached as if to attack, then seemed to get stuck in some rocks on the ground adjacent to the rock face and simply floated there, making no attempts to raise a Summon or attack me directly.
  • A dozen arrows later it was all over... grabbed the mask, learned the shout, off I went, happy but feeling like a bit of a cheat. :)

I haven't tried to reproduce this bug yet. It may be fixed by the Unofficial Special Edition Patch which I hadn't installed at the time of the battle, I haven't combed the release notes to see if it's mentioned. 58.111.134.193 03:58, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Good observation, but as the bug is with Krosis, not with the location, the documentation of the bug should be on the Krosis creature page only. —MortenOSlash (talk) 07:47, 12 June 2018 (UTC)
