On (instant) removal of the bounty for killing her, the system message states "Last witness killed. 40 bounty removed from Eastmarch." Any thoughts or ideas as to what this particular NPC does, or represents, within the game scope? -WalB 20:12, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Just a random encounter like the Thalmor escorts.- Azurome 02:12, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Just there to add a little comic relief. Wabbajack me. 96.240.173.114 18:34, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Madwoman's dialogue[edit]

When encountering the Madwoman she will approach the Player ranting "Vacation is where the head is. That is what Dervenin told us about our master. He's cozy in his Solitude." This is obviously a clue for the Mind of Madness quest. The reference to Dervenin and Solitude (note Solitude is capitalized) could point the curious Player in the right direction. — Unsigned comment by NWPSr (talkcontribs) at 18:05 on 29 September 2014 (GMT)

That's what the line is intended for, yes. She has a few other lines that serve the same purpose. I'll look into the CK to see if they point them to Dervenin, but I'll add the lines either way. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:05, 29 September 2014 (GMT)
She only appears after the quest has started, so obviously her dialogue is not intended to point you to the quest. It's listed as such, but looking at the cs that doesn't seem to be the case. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:37, 29 September 2014 (GMT)
The lines actually can only run as long as the quest is not completed. Looking at her random encounter quest, it can be triggered before the quest is completed, but it also does not add a quest marker for Dervenin or this quest. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:57, 29 September 2014 (GMT)

Bug?[edit]

I've only come across the Madwoman in one of my files, and while I have received the Wabbajack and actually had it in my inventory, I could not enter a dialogue with her. All she'd say is the "Wabbajack, Wabbajack, Wabbajack, Wabbajack." line. So I used the Wabbajack on her, turned her into a rabbit, and when she poofed back again, she had something new to say. When I tried to talk to her then, she said something like "You wouldn't assault an old woman again, would you?" and then "Come come. I haven't got all day.", "Need something?", "Let's hear it.", or "Hmm?". I still have not been able to enter a dialogue with her, she just repeats the last four comments randomly. Has anyone else experienced this bug where the dialogue never occurs? Chocoholic (talk) 14:07, 24 November 2014 (GMT)

Shows up even without the quest[edit]

Is she supposed to appear even if the Sheogorath quest is never started? I've encountered her several times now and I never do that quest. She's bloody annoying, following me around and she won't go away. If I attack her to make her go away, I get a bounty for it. --67.142.170.21 01:53, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Protected?[edit]

Found her wandering the hillside near Winterhold (along with a bandit), being attacked by 3 Frost Trolls. Once she went down, the frost trolls lost interest until she recovered, then proceeded to knock her down again. After clearing the trolls away myself, I proceeded to check if she was Essential, by hitting her with a kill-command. Result: She stumbled down into a crouch, like any other essential NPC would, then got right back up. However, firing a few arrows into her, she fully died, so clearly not essential. Thoughts?
