Quest relationship?[edit]

How is Hamelyn related to Dampened Spirits (other than by being in the meadery basement that the quest leads you to) ? Krag 00:20, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Nope
No other relationship. I suppose someone put it in just because he can be encountered during the quest. I will delete the reference. I am working on getting the photo correct on this page. I might ask for help if I can't figure it out. I think it looks ok, or at least better, here: File:SR_npc_Hamelyn.jpg. But (I think) I'm having trouble updating this page to link to the replaced file. Any help is appreciated. Fixed. Jreynolds2 03:29, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
I think the Related Quest needs to be added back in. Hamelyn is responsible for the Skeevers that you are sent to kill as part of the quest. There is no way to complete the quest without dealing with him, given that he lives on top of the skeever nest where you have to place the poison. Furthermore, there is quest-specific dialogue about him (at the end of the quest, you can ask Mallus "You never mentioned that lunatic living in the tunnels", to which Mallus responds "I thought it would be better to leave some of the details out of our previous discussion. Didn't want to risk you walking away from the job. Besides, you've done Maven a favor getting rid of him and saved me from wasting coin hiring someone else to do it later.") Overall, it's clear the developers intended for you to meet him during the quest, which to me says he's quest related. --NepheleTalk 06:50, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
This reasoning makes sense to me. Agree. --Jreynolds2Talk 07:51, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Need help replacing image[edit]

I have replaced the image on the source file page, File:SR_npc_Hamelyn.jpg, but can't figure out how to replace the image on this page with the new one. Jreynolds2 03:40, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

It automatically updates. You're just not seeing it because your browser has cached the old image. Use Ctrl+F5 (or whatever your browser uses for a hard refresh) to update your browser. --NepheleTalk 06:45, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Pied Piper of Hamelin[edit]

Should this character's similarity to the Pied Piper of Hamelin be mentioned, since it seems clear that that's where he derives his name from? It's currently mentioned as a possible reference in the Skyrim:Easter Eggs section, but it seems certain that that's where his name from as it'd be way too much of a coincidence otherwise. -- Haravikk (talk) 20:28, 13 November 2012 (GMT)

Easter eggs are not put on articles, unless they are dead-on certainties, and even then not always. This being a possible reason, and there have been other proposals as to easter eggs about him, makes it only a possible egg, as is noted on the eggs page. A link to the entry on the Easter eggs page might be warranted. —Legoless (talk) 21:40, 13 November 2012 (GMT)

Fox race?[edit]

So for some reason, Hamelyn is in the Creation Kit with completely uneditable data, like what creatures have, and he's part of the FoxRace (before anyone calls me nuts, here's a screenshot). I even checked with Update.esm and the USKP, no change. He certainly looks human and has a voice in game, so I have no idea why I'm turning up that he's.... a fox. Schiffy(Talk) 20:01, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

FoxRace is one of the few that are used as placeholders and are always overriden. Notice also that his class is Dremora in the data, another placeholder that has no significance. They are used because these sections must always be filled in the data. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:16, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
