Fortify Illusion effects[edit]

Can anyone explain to me the function of Fortify Illusion potions? Do they:

1. actually increase the effective level of a mind-altering spell, 2. increase something else, like duration, or 3. increase the player's illusion skill level, effectively decreasing the casting cost.

Also, the same question for the Vampire bonus. What does that do?

My understanding is that it increases the level of NPC affected for calm/fury/fear spells, and duration otherwise. -Vardis 23:39, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Right, I found the answer buried in the discussion on the Illusion page. I'll update this page to show that information. (Tryptic 23:40, 4 February 2012 (UTC))

Bolded Statement[edit]

The statement "Keep in mind that Dual-Casting an Illusion spell will double its strength, including any bonuses from Alchemy and/or Vampirism in exchange for almost tripling the cost." at the bottom of the page is currently bolded, and my attempt to un-bold it was undone. Based on the Style Guide, I do not think there should be such emphasis, as one should "[a]void using bold formatting for general emphasis", and it is an entire sentence. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? --Velyanthe 02:18, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Not only do I agree that it should not be in bold, I'm not even sure it belongs on this page, unless it's part of a comprehensive equation that shows what level NPC will be affects give the default value for the spell, and that's something that would probably be better suited for the illusion page. It looks like there was some discussion on that talk page about that, but it's died down. I think the statement should just be removed. -Vardis 23:26, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Vampire's Seduction[edit]

Fortify Illusion potions further raise the level cap for Vampire's Seduction along with the Illusion perks and inherent vampire Illusion bonus.
