Aldis Gives 20 Gold[edit]

Since I didn't complete this quest before attacking Solitude with the Stormcloaks I had to "recreate" Capt Aldis. I did so in the dungeon of Castle Dour and he gave me 20gp. --Tiger8u2 05:24, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Got 20 gold as well. — Unsigned comment by 68.51.191.225 (talk) at 01:45 on 7 January 2012

How to trigger this quest?[edit]

I don't think I've ever had this quest trigger while playing the game. I know you're supposed to talk to Gorm while he's at the inn, but in my experience he never goes to the inn; I've watched him at his usual spot next to the Jarl's throne and he never moves from it except to go to bed. Is there something else you have to do to trigger the quest? Soggybobcat (talk) 05:12, 26 January 2013 (GMT)

Is Aldis alive? He dies when taking Solitude for the Stormcloaks. Other than that, Gorm's schedule is as follows, wake at 6am, dawdle about until 6pm, have a 2 hour dinner at Moorside Inn, return and dawdle about until 11pm, then bed. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:37, 29 January 2013 (GMT)
Even though the quest doesn't write to your journal (and Gorm keeps reoffering it in his dialogue options) you can still complete it. The letter still transfers to your inventory, and while no quest arrows appear, Aldis does have a dialogue option to receive it when you find him in Solitude. And it will still count towards the "Assist the people of Hjaalmarch" quest. After you have completed it, if you meet Gorm in the Moorside Inn, he no longer talks to you (in terms of opening up a dialogue).--Istara (talk) 13:49, 27 April 2013 (GMT)

() So i got the same problem when Gorm doesnt move the inn. Got it fixed by manually moving to the inn at 6pm:

Gorm is dead :([edit]

I have come across a siuation where I have the letter in my inventory, but I cannot remove it or turn it in to Captian Aldis. I had killed Gorm as requested though my Dark Brotherhood quests, I honestly don't remember if I took it off his body, or if I talked to him and never got around to giving the the letter to Aldis before I killed Gorm.

This is mentioned on the Wiki pages here: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Gorm's_Letter in the notes section: If you pickpocket this from Gorm or take it from his dead body, Captain Aldis will not have any dialogue to accept the letter.

I was unable to find a resolution to this on the Wiki. While I'm aware, being on PC, I can just put in a console command to rectify it, I just want to advise of the issue I have run in to incase I'm missing anything and can still do this quest somewhat normally, or if someone would like to take this information and update these fourms with it as I didn't find anything related here.
