Major Glitch[edit]

There is a very annoying glitch where if you have committed a crime and have a bounty on your head or have avoided a bounty by killing the witnesses she will attack you on sight and it is impossible to yield to her. Being that she is central to the story this makes it impossible to continue the main quest. To fix this glitch you must commit a crime and either pay the fine or do your time. Players on the PC may use the console to enter the command paycrimegold while targeting a guard of the faction with which you have a bounty to avoid losing any stolen goods (the amount you owe will still be removed from your inventory).Reizl 06:35, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Second Bug "Return to Esbern"[edit]

The second bug says:

  • If you choose not to kill Paarthurnax, after some time passes, a miscellaneous quest will be added, labeled, "Return to Esbern". This quest can't be completed, and Delphine sometimes seems to disappear from the game entirely.

This appears to be related to the Dragon Research quest that Esbern can give you, given that it's the same quest update. The user who added the bug here may have run into bug number three on Dragon Research:

  • You can get Esbern's Potion quest line without recruiting any Blades. However, it will not be titled "Dragon Research" and is located in Miscellaneous Quests. After completing Alduin's Wall, killing a dragon at a defined radiant location (such as a word wall) will trigger the objective "Speak to Esbern". Speaking to Esbern then triggers "Give a Dragon Scale and a Dragon Bone to Esbern".

and so this may not actually be a bug with Delphine. There's not enough information to say for sure tho, so I'm bringing it up here on the talk page. 12th 06:55, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

If you decide not to kill Paarthurnax and Delphine goes missing (or if you kill Paarthurnax and still can't find her) try fast traveling to Helgen and searching around the wall, she sometimes appears there. I don't know why this happens but, I have seen it on a several playthroughs so I thought I should bring it up here. Ysmir's Beard 18:06, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
If Delphine is missing after killing Aldiun then (with the PC version) one can either move to her location (player.moveto 00013485) or one can bring her to the player (next to Esbern for the post-Aldiun scene to play properly) by typing prid 00013485 and then while her number is selected on the console type moveto player.76.23.115.144 18:14, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
I came here to say exactly what the user 12th has already pointed out, so instead I will just say that I concur with him, and believe that the bug description should be adjusted accordingly. I too refrained from killing Paathurnax, and after some time, did receive the bugged entry to return to Esbern, but only immediately after killing a dragon at a word wall. — Unsigned comment by Kozol (talkcontribs) at 14:49 on 7 October 2012‎

Delphine during the Bleak Falls Barrow quest[edit]

"Also, during the Bleak Falls Barrow quest, she wears a Thieves Guild hood in addition to her leather outfit."

This made me believe you can get Delphine (innkeeper Delphine, that is) to travel to the barrow with me. But it seems what is meant by the above is: "Also, if you meet Delphine in Dragonsreach at the end of the Bleak Falls Barrow quest, she wears a Thieves Guild hood in addition to her leather outfit." I have clarified you won't find Delphine anywhere near the barrow, with or without that hood. CapnZapp (talk) 19:40, 8 December 2012 (GMT)

intro reorg[edit]

I believe it is confusing to have the article assume you already know all about Delphine and her secrets. She is first known to any player just as an innkeeper and that is the way she should be introduced. Otherwise newbie players might go "is this really the right Delphine wiki page?"

Of course, I am not suggesting anything should be hidden away, and the info on Delphine of the Blades is great and all. Only it should be given after the reader has been given a chance to go "oh yeah here's the innkeeper... what? she's having secrets?" if not already privy to the quest developments.

I have made a crude reorg to show the general idea, feel free to fine tune. Thx, CapnZapp (talk) 19:46, 8 December 2012 (GMT)

recruiting blades[edit]

I've gone through the scene multiple times and once delphine has given the quest about recruiting blades, she never gives the necessary dialog to induct the three followers I brought to her. I brought them in one at a time, 2 together and all three at once. I've talked to her inside and outside.76.178.51.162 19:07, 15 January 2013 (GMT)

Hood[edit]

The hood she wears when you meet her at Dragonsreach looks more like the unobtainable Leather Hood, which would work since she wears a set of Leather armor and would gain a bonus from Matched Set. The Thieves guild hood is more newer in appearance, with no scratches but the one Delphine wears has scratches and looks older.--121.74.144.226 04:08, 16 April 2013 (GMT)

That may be so, but the outfit data (MQ102DelphineOutfit 000996e4) confirms that it is in fact the Thieves Guild Hood (00036585). eshetalk 14:37, 16 April 2013 (GMT)

Delphine can die[edit]

I've confirmed that in the original version of the PS3 edition of the game (before downloading DLC and/or patches) Delphine can in fact die. During the battle for Karthspire during Alduin's Wall, she took an attack from one of the Forsworn there and apparently died. Her corpse could not be interacted with in any way. I could not find a cause or fix. I've only seen it happen once, and haven't confirmed if the same may happen with DLC and/or patches. — Unsigned comment by 216.186.185.107 (talk) at 15:18 on 20 April 2013

Her death is obviously caused by some glitch, as she is essential, which means there are codes protecting her from death. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 15:22, 20 April 2013 (GMT)

Error[edit]

It states that the Penitus Occulatus replaced the blades after the Great War, but the books (Thr Infernal City, Lord of Souls) has the Penitus Occulatus replacing the Blades before the Thalmor took Valenwood. Avakinumibus (talk) 20:10, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Hanging around in Whiterun[edit]

So here's the story. I've never once arrived in Whiterun for the first time without having the Dragon Stone with me. It's just how I play the game. In fact, I didn't even know that Delphine shows up in Dragonsreach to talk with Farengar, if you have to go and get it for him after he asks, until today. Well, what happened was Delphine appeared in Whiterun, in farm clothes, after I fast-traveled there from Ivarstead after answering the Greybeards' summons. I had no idea why that would happen, and it's never happened with any other NPC who shouldn't be there, but now it appears to be possible that she travels to Whiterun regardless of when you give Farengar the Dragon Stone.

It's difficult to say, especially since I've never seen her in Whiterun before, and I know fast-traveling can do some weird things (Oblivion's stable-hands.) If anyone else has seen Delphine in Whiterun under similar circumstances, or had her fast-travel with you without being a follower, write about it here. — Unsigned comment by Tingz0r (talkcontribs) at 15:25 on 3 June 2016
