quest[edit]

I still say that bleak falls barrow refers to the golden claw (I plead LazynessEddie The Head 16:52, 5 October 2011 (UTC))

It's possible, but the way the achievement is worded makes it sounds like it's the name of a quest that you must complete. In which case perhaps there are two interrelated quests in the barrow -- The Golden Claw to obtain the claw, and a second one that's part of the Main Quest specifically involving the word wall. I figured it was safest to establish a disambiguation page, to make sure that when people start adding information, it's clear that quest information and location information belong on two separate pages. --NepheleTalk 17:00, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Namespace listing?[edit]

Why is the "Skyrim:" prefix shown on the article links? The disambig page is already in the namespace so clarification isn't necessary, and the prefix is ugly. Looking at other disambigs, it's not common procedure to include the namespace on links. --Legoless 18:28, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

yeh all other disambigs dont have it and skyrim is even mentioned on it so im gonna remove it (I plead LazynessEddie The Head 06:32, 7 October 2011 (UTC))
All other? Perhaps most, I didn't count them. But Oblivion:Miscarcand (mentioned in the edit history) certainly has the prefix. I'm not sure how relevant this is to this wiki, but wikipedia says "The article title should appear exactly as it is on the target page; the link should not be piped except ..." . The reason is, that a disambiguation page is not supposed to look pretty, but to be as clear as possible, so the page that really was intended can be discerned with a minimal amount of fuss. Giving the title as is makes it easier to link past a disambiguation page too. Then again wikipedia doesn't make such heavy use of namespaces as UESP does, so that might be a reason to do things differently.--Alfwyn 12:16, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation pages can be used in cases where there are pages in multiple namespaces -- see, for example, Skyrim. In those cases, it is imperative that the namespace be shown so that readers can see what page exactly they are choosing. Given the potential that any link on a disambig page might go to another namespace, readers should be able to see full details of the pages. Otherwise, the main purpose of a disambig page -- namely, to be a navigational aid showing readers their options -- is defeated. Readers might be confused about whether "Bleak Fall Barrow (place)" is actually a Skyrim page or a Lore page, for example. Overall, I think it's more important for a disambig page to be useful than to be pretty.
Just because some of our existing disambig pages aren't set up properly isn't a reason to continue the trend. Frankly, I find disambigs such as Morrowind:Abebaal_Slave_Key unnecessarily confusing, and I inevitably have to hover over each link to see full details of each link. Given that Wikipedia policy is by default considered to apply on UESP, I think we should stick to displaying namespaces. (Thanks for the link Alfwyn). --NepheleTalk 16:58, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
I agree, making it clear where it goes is more important than having nice links. Functionality over form. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:05, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm nudging this as it wasn't really ever resolved. Should disambiguation pages show the full link instead of just the cleaned up one? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:42, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
I think, if they are all in one namespace then no. If there are multiple namespaces in the links then yes. So in this instance (as of yet, no Lore article present) i think the links should stay as they are --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 15:45, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Given that the overall preference seems to be to not display the namespace in this case, I'm OK with just leaving the page as is instead of putting more effort into such a minor question. --NepheleTalk 03:40, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
