Sharpslope Cave

Sharpslope Cave is a small cave in the Forgotten Vale containing chaurus, Falmer, and one of the rare shellbugs. It contains only one zone, Sharpslope Cave.

Walkthrough[edit]

Exterior[edit]

The exterior of this cave is the Forgotten Vale. There are two entrances. The upper entrance is reached by heading north from the Wayshrine of Resolution to a small Falmer settlement containing two tents, then following the path to the right up and across several bridges and past several more Falmer settlements. The lower entrance is reached from the same small settlement, by continuing along the river heading southwest. You will pass a group of five chaurus cocoons, two of which are occupied, with two orichalcum ore veins among them. A short distance farther is the entrance. There are three more occupied chaurus cocoons, two more empty cocoons, and four more orichalcum ore veins along the river, with the first vein immediately south of the lower entrance, and the last vein in the corner on the opposite bank.

Sharpslope Cave[edit]

The upper entrance leads into a dimly lit passage heading west, south, and west again as it descends. At the bottom, a glowing mushroom is on the wall by a turn to the north. The ramp then enters a chamber, where it descends in a spiral around the outer wall. There are many Falmer hives in the chamber, but most are empty. Two Falmer, one a magic-user, patrol the upper part of the ramp. Between the first and second Falmer hives, a narrow opening on the outer wall leads to another chamber containing one of the rare shellbugs. In order to obtain their chitin, these creatures must be mined with a pickaxe; the material cannot be obtained through killing the creatures by conventional means. Shellbugs are also not detected by the Detect Life spell.

The ramp continues to descend past an empty alcove and around a central column of rock surrounded by scaffolding. At the bottom, the path passes south into a second chamber. Beyond more scaffolding to the left, a chaurus hunter and a chaurus roam, while a high-level Falmer is in a tent above. A Falmer chest is against a thin rock pillar at ground level. There are two upper ledges along the sides of the chamber, but both are empty. An earthen ramp and a walkway from the tent lead to the passage in the east with the lower entrance.

Bugs[edit]

  • You may be unable to mine the shellbug after it respawns. Leaving and reentering the cave will enable the shellbug, allowing you to mine it normally.
  • You may not be able to interact with some of the glowing mushrooms.
