Iron-Breaker Mine

Iron-Breaker Mine is a small iron mine in Dawnstar with a smelter near the entrance. It is owned by Beitild.

The mine is at the eastern end of town, just east of the White Hall. The mine does not have a separate map marker.

Walkthrough

The entrance leads into a tunnel descending to the southeast. At the bottom is a crossroads, with dead ends straight ahead and to the southwest. There are six iron ore veins located throughout the mine as listed below, as well as several pickaxes, shovels, and barrels of foodstuffs. The mine continues to the northeast, passing a narrow point with wooden shoring. At this point, there is a copy of the Destruction skill book Response to Bero's Speech on top of a barrel. There is also a bed roll owned by Bodil at this point. Just past here is a second crossroads, with an extinguished campfire in the middle. To the northwest is a barrel containing ingredients among a pile of firewood, while to the northeast is another dead end. Turning to the southeast, the tunnel narrows and starts to twist and turn, eventually rising to another dead end with a round hole in the ground. Dropping through this hole takes you back down by the first junction, in one of the dead ends.

Beitild will buy iron ore from you. She can be found at the smelter during working hours.

Notes

• The Prima Official Game Guide describes the mine as follows:

"This mine is located on the outskirts of town to the east. Karl, Irgnir, Gjak, and Bodil work here. This mine produces iron and has a smelter for extracting steel from the iron. Under the watchful (some might say, stern and overbearing) gaze of Beitild, the mine is producing a large amount of ore and is a boon to the local economy."

Bugs

• Ahkari's merchant chest, which is placed underneath the playable map, can be accessed by looking between the three rocks just to the left of the mine entrance.
  • The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 1.0, fixes this bug.
