Garlas Malatar

Garlas Malatar is the coastal citadel of an ancient Ayleid kingdom.

It stands sentinel over the seas, some way to the north of Thresvy. Until the events of The Captain, only the first layer of the dungeon - the Ceysel - can be explored to any degree. You can enter the second section, named Carac Abaran, but cannot proceed past the pile of rubble blocking the corridor. Additionally, a portion of the Ceysel is blocked off by a moving wall that can only be opened from the other side.

According to The Masqued Captain, in times past Garlas Malatar was at the center of an Ayleid kingdom whose borders extended far enough to include the citadels of nearby Beldaburo, Nagaiarelle, Vabriasel in the Viduscan Isles and Wormusoel on Stirk Isle. Massalamir Thousand-Hands ruled this kingdom in its later years, with the citadel having initially been founded to defend the shore against Direnni fleets.

Ceysel

Beyond a pair of Saliache Boots upon a pile of rubble in the southwestern room, there is little loot to note in the initial Ceysel area. If arriving into it from the Lorhame section of the ruin (rather than from the outside), then you can open a secret passage leading back to the southern rooms of the Ceysel by pressing a Stone Button hidden inside a lamp cage with its door already hanging open, on the east side of the square chamber.

Carac Abaran

The Ayleid Sorceror-King, Massalamir Thousand-Hands, can be found in the throne room here. He carries the Varla Stone of Reified Desires needed for The Captain quest.

Major treasures in this section include a Golden Saint Helm behind Massalamir's throne. Assorted Saliache items - a Saliache Helm, Saliache Cuirass and Saliache Left Pauldron - are present in the large northern room. A corridor accessible from the Lorhame area holds an Ayleid Longbow.

The door behind Massalamir's throne leads to the Nagasel section.

Nagasel

A crypt area, filled with bones and burial niches. Among other things, these chambers and niches contain another pair of Saliache Boots, a Saliache Shield and a Saliache Left Bracer. The door at the end of this section will take you to the Lorhame area.

Lorhame

Doors here can take you back to Nagasel, to Ceysel (and a secret passage back to the exit), and to Carac Abaran - specifically a corridor overlooing Massalamir's throne room. It contains most of the remaining pieces of the Saliache armor set, including a Saliache Right Pauldron on a balcony only reachable by levitation, a Saliache Right Bracer in an open coffin in the southern room, and another Saliache Helm in a suspended cage in the northwestern corner of the middle chamber. That middle chamber also features an Ayleid Sacrificial Dagger and an Ayleid Spear, both resting upon altars.
