Weapons and Guild Skill Info[edit]

Tamriel foundry has a lot of information about what weapon and guild skills will be. It's all unsourced, but they have gotten to play it at PAX and similar events so I trust their info. Should we include it with them as a source? DontforgetThis (talk) 18:34, 5 January 2014 (GMT)

We don't need to reference them, a lot of the same stuff can be found in some of the latest videos. Some of the editors here have played it at PAX and other events and also got some extra info out of the staff. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:39, 5 January 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, I can confirm that all the info on TF is available to use and not covered by the NDA. Jeancey (talk) 04:22, 6 January 2014 (GMT)

Format of Passive Skills[edit]

I've noticed in the tables that each rank of the passive abilities has its own row, but the level requirement is combined and only shows the lowest requirement, even though each ability level requires a higher skill level and an extra skill point. I intend to record the requirements for the higher levels as well once the servers activate for official release, but that is a massive undertaking for one player, so I request aid from others.--Jnutter819hi 22:13, 3 April 2014 (GMT)

Individual Skill Pages[edit]

I'm thinking of breaking apart the skills so that each skill gets its own page. The existing skill line pages would be unchanged, with the exception of links be added to the individual pages. But the skills themselves would be broken out. A skill page would have a summary, much like in other games, though we'd probably need something ESO specific for this. Right now, the current format only gives the in-game descriptions for the skills, and doesn't provide any additional information on how they operate, and there's really no room for it in the current layout, but on an individual page, you can go into more depth on how they work. Morphs would be covered on the same page as their parent skill, no need to separate them. Passives I'm not sure if we need to separate, but it may make sense to do them as well. I will need a good deal of assistance with this, as I can only really provide info on the ones I've used myself. (Currently level 28 Sorceror. I played the other classes in the betas, but none of them for long enough to get to the higher-level skills.) I'll start working on a template tomorrow if there are no serious objections... — TheRealLurlock (talk) 03:22, 29 April 2015 (GMT)

In order to provide more information, this certainly makes sense. Ideally we should try to set it up in such a way that the parent skill line pages are filled with transclusions, so when skills are changed we would only need to change the skill page itself. The other thing we need to do, which would be best combined into this effort, is make sure all skills are up-to-date for the changes that were made in Update 6 (most notably the change to a global Buffs setup, but also changes to individual values). This is on my to-do list, but currently scheduled after everything else, so updating as we go through each skill line would make the most sense. What I was planning to do for this was to make a load of VR 14 template characters on the PTS, as they have maxed-out skills in most skill lines, meaning we could get the info easier than waiting for someone's character to hit the right levels.
On a side note, you may be interested in Jeancey's Various and Varied ESO Suggestions for the Online namespace in general, if you haven't seen it yet. I also hijacked it with a couple of my own suggestions at the bottom. --Enodoc (talk) 12:59, 29 April 2015 (GMT)
PTS... Does that mean what I think it means (i.e. We've got a private server where we can sandbox all this stuff)? That would help immensely. I'm not sure how well transclusions would work in this case - it might get complicated since the info is all in tables. Yeah you can do some of that with saved variables, but those present problems of their own. (Just look at the Places list pages - so many of them are missing icons because somebody made an edit to the individual page. I've seen pages that were edited weeks ago and still the icons are missing. A simple purge on the specific page followed by another on the list page fixes it, but nobody bothers to do that, and it shouldn't be necessary. Problem is that the wiki doesn't automatically purge pages after edits, which it really should.) I expect the individual pages to receive somewhat frequent edits, and often by people who don't know about the intricacies of variable inclusion, so they won't know to do the purge-after-edit, which would cause the main skill line pages to have missing info all the time. For now I plan to make a standard template without saved variables. It shouldn't be too much trouble to modify it later. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 13:32, 29 April 2015 (GMT)
No, it's this PTS, Zenimax's own Persistent Test Server, but it's very useful for finding out stuff about high-level characters and skills. Fair point on transclusions, but the more there is to change when something is updated, the more likely it is that something is overlooked, and then we'd have something saying one thing, and something else saying another. Surely a bot can be set up to purge pages on command? A standard template to start with sounds good, then we can go from there. --Enodoc (talk) 16:53, 29 April 2015 (GMT)

One- and two-member categories.[edit]

I've been using the ESO Skills With template to categorize all skills by effects. I've gotten all of the major effects categories done, but as you can see on Special:WantedCategories, there are various categories remaining with only 1 or 2 members. I've tried to combine all the ones I can think of to combine, because I'd rather not create categories that are only ever going to contain 1 or 2 things. If anyone has any insight into how some of these others might be combined, I'd like to hear it. Otherwise, we might just go and remove those categories from those pages, because there's really not much point in creating a category that small. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 23:03, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Dungeon Skills[edit]

We need pages for the skills available in Skeevaton form in Frostvault and Werewolf Behemoth form in Stone Garden. —Legoless (talk) 15:04, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

Sources of skill points[edit]

I've updated the list of sources of skill points, for everything up to and including Markarth - skill points, skyshards and all. Only things I don't know are:

- does Vateshran Hollows grant a skill point for the first successful completion, like Maelstrom Arena is listed as doing?
- What about Dragonstar Arena and Blackrose Prison (both are NOT listed as granting a skill point, I assume this is true?)
- And what about Trials?

Skyshards, incidentally, are in multiples of 3 to make a complete number of skill points, pretty much everywhere - with two early DLC exceptions, which fortunately cancel out: Imperial City has 13 (1 more than a multiple of 3) and Wrothgar / Orsinium 17 (1 less than a multiple of 3.) The base game, including Coldharbour (16), Craglorn (18), Cyrodiil (46) and the Wailing Prison tutorial (1, counted separately from the rest of Coldharbour) and all faction zones (86x3 = 258) has 339, and every DLC since Orsinium has added either 6 (smaller DLCs) or 18 (full Chapters).
