Turning a Page[edit]

Throughout the quest, Vorm will be accompanying his sister in search of books that will be pivotal in allowing him to turn back into a human.

When you retrieve all three books required for the ritual, he will cast a spell that will allow him to turn back to his original form:

Ysgild: "All right, brother. I'm just going to lay these out. The rest is up to you!"

<Ysgild lays down the books and Vorm casts the spell that will make all three books disappear before returning back to human form.>

Ysgild: "Vorm! Quite the mess you got yourself into!"
Vorm: "Books don't need to breathe, but it sure feels good to breathe again."
Ysgild: "Hey, what happened to the books? I was going to read Blackscale again!"
Vorm: "Blackscale? That garbage is printed en masse. Planar Formulae was one of a kind!"
Ysgild: "Oh no, what a loss that is! It's good to have you back, brother."
Vorm: "And it's good to see you too, sister. Thank you, and thanks to our new friend as well!"

Speaking to him after the quest to learn more about him:

"Greetings, my friend. It is nice to actually have a chance to introduce myself. That other form was, well, a bit limiting in terms of communicating effectively.
I'm Vorm, and I am in your debt."
Tell me about yourself, Vorm.
"For starters, I'm actually a Nord and not a floating book. I work as an archivist in service to Hermaeus Mora, though the Lord of Knowledge affords us some freedom on how to conduct our business.
Hence my private little library."
How does one become an archivist for Hermaeus Mora?
"Well, as I like to say, there's no one way to read a book. My family's unconventional upbringing gave me a rather unique perspective and that attracted the Prince's attention.
I get my own space to study as long as I share my findings."
Do you plan on returning to your post in the Disquiet Study?
"Naturally! The Guardian of the Unseen may be inscrutable at times, but my Prince will surely sort out the bedlam in his halls of erudition before too long. His loyal servants will need to return to make order of the disorder, and I will do my part."
How did you end up becoming a book?
"Oh, just hubris and folly, I'm afraid. Though I'm skilled in many arts, confronting beasts and skulking through labyrinths was always my sister's specialty. I'm not ashamed to admit that when chaos began to befall the study I panicked."
So you turned yourself into a book to escape?
"My mind wandered while attempting to portal out of the study. I imagined hiding within the pages of a book and, in my haste, the spell went awry. I was left a tawdry tome with no hope of returning to normal.
Until my sister arrive of course."
How did you know gathering these books would save you?
"In truth, I didn't know for sure. But one's sense of self stems from the moments and events that shape us. I was willing to bet my connection to these written words, paired with my family's bond, would help return me to normal."

You can see both him and his sister at Cipher's Midden, trying to enjoy inky drinks on a porch:

Vorm: "Every drink still has a tinge of ink to the taste…"
Ysgild: "We're in the Endless Library. This place is two thirds ink as it is!
Ysgild: "Well if it isn't our favorite librarian! Come have a drink!"

Speaking to him to see what both him and Ysgild has been up to:

"It is very nice to see you, friend. And with my own two eyes thanks to your aid back in the study! I'm still getting my Nord legs back and I fear this musty tome aroma won't ever leave me, but I am doing much better than when you first found us."
Hello, Vorm. Will you be returning to your work in the Disquiet Study soon?
"Ah, so I received word to let the bedlam in the study run its course. I'm beginning to think it may have been a purposeful test for reasons I can't guess.
Alas, this is an occupational hazard for serving the ever-enigmatic Prince of Apocrypha."
Have you been enjoying your time with your sister?
"So long as her predilection for jumping into danger remains ever so constant I'll never frown at the quiet moments like this one. As if she can be very quiet.
But I jest. Traveling with my sister is an adventure, but one I'll always enjoy."

Chronicle of Fate[edit]

If you assisted both him and Ysgild, both siblings will attend your ceremony at Cipher's Midden.

Speaking to him:

"It's good to see you again, friend. Especially now that I can greet you with more than inky tentacles and tattered pages. You showed my sister and I a kindness that we don't often see in Apocrypha. I hope the rest of your time here has been fruitful."
Try not to turn yourself into any more inanimate objects.
"Believe me, I don't plan on it. Being a book felt very…stiff."
