The Traitor's Trade
A vile criminal named Luaffyn Romavel captured several Argonian soldiers in hopes of extracting a ransom from the Ebonheart Pact. With my help, Ashur of the Morag Tong intends to execute Romavel and set the captives free.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Enter Camonnarahn.
  2. Find and free the three Argonian soldiers.
  3. Cause a distraction to lure out Luaffyn Romavel.
  4. Leave Camonnarahn and talk to Ashur.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

To start this quest, talk to Ashur just outside Camonnaruhn. His greeting to you will depend on if you met before:

Met Before:
First Time Meeting:
"Oh. It's you. Come to tussle with the ne'er-do-wells of the Telvanni Peninsula? Hmmm. Actually. I could use a distraction. This is for official business, you should remember how compensation works."
"I hope you don't work for my quarry. No, you don't look her type.
Hmm. I'd rather not have to do everything myself. How would you like to be a distraction? The Morag Tong are keen to see this writ taken care of, so there's plenty gold to share."
What would I be a distraction for?
"The punishment of Luaffyn Romavel. She convinced those Camonna Tong scoundrels to take Argonian soldiers hostage and force the Ebonheart Pact to pay a large sum for their release. I'm here to ensure that her plan fails and she never hatches another."
What do you want me to do?
"You're a distraction and a secondary measure. We cannot let either Luaffyn or the soldiers remain in their current positions. Free the soldiers and do something to draw out Luaffyn. Sound an alarm, make noise, but leave the kill to me."
All right, I'll free the Argonians and help you kill Luaffyn Romavel.

After you agree to help him, you can ask him some questions about Luaffyn, who he dismisses as well as the Camonna Tong in general. You can also talk about your previous encounters in Hakoshae and Balmora and ask about one of his colleagues.

As you leave, he will add one last comment:

Ashur: "Remember, you're my distraction, make a commotion in there."

Enter Camonnaruhn. You can either free Corporal Voice-of-Thunder, Corporal Ghetul, and Sergeant Gah-Malz, who are chained to posts in three separate areas. Interact with them to free them, alternatively you can head directly to the gong to cause a distraction.

Corporal Voice-of-Thunder is (?):

Corporal Voice-of-Thunder: "These smooth-skinned fools will regret capturing me."

Corporal Ghetul is near the troll fighting pit:

Corporal Ghetul: "These dung beetles insulted me for the last time. Tied up with trolls?"

Sergeant Gah-Malz is (?):

Sergeant Gah-Malz:' "I thought I'd be tied up for ages."
The gong
Luaffyn Romavel

When you reach the gong in the western corner of the delve, Ashur will appear out of stealth:

Ashur: "Where is that s'wit? Doesn't she know how inconvenient this is?"
<Notices the gong.>
Ashur: "Where is it …? Oh, there. That gong. Ring it."
Ashur: "She has to come see why it sounded. Ring it and I'll introduce Luaffyn to my blades."

You can now ring the alarm gong, and Luaffyn will walk down the stairs and on to the walkway above you:.

Luaffyn Romavel: "Intruders? What's going on here—"
<Ashur appears behind her and stabs her in the back.>
Luaffyn Romavel: "Finally. I'll meet you outside. Free the prisoners if you haven't already."

If you have not already freed the three prisoners, you can complete that now and exit Camonnaruhn. You will find Ashur and Sergeant Gah-Malz exchanging angry words:

Sergeant Gah-Malz: Captured by a Dark Elf then freed by one. Do you think I'm just going to ignore—
Ashur: "I don't care what you do, as long as you don't mention my part in it."

Speak with Ashur to complete the quest:

"I don't know how that sergeant knew about my involvement. I hoped having you free them would rid me of this inconvenience.
Still, despite this unfortunate turn of events, I ended Luaffyn and you followed directions well."
I thought you needed me to free them to cause a distraction?
"Why can't both be true? I told you what you needed to know. But yes, I hoped the soldiers would know only your face.
Still, I promised you a reward. Take it. We should part ways before we attract any more unwanted attention."

You will receive some gold and Ashur's Spare Axe.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
