Sharz

Sharz is a Redguard who can be found at the Egg Mine Barracks in Gnisis. He is one of the members of Theyo Prevette's ghost hunting crew, along with Farwen Temolire, who were employed by Lord Thanlen to clear his newly purchased property of spirits.

According to Theyo, Sharz is a pacifist, a fact which was disappointing to the former who was hoping that the latter's brawn would translate to useful fighting skills. Sharz prides himself on his purity and righteousness, which he learned during tutelage under noble and honorable lords and ladies. His teachers would feed and clothe those who were in need, to the point where they themselves became homeless and poor. Nonetheless, Sharz still looks up to them since they traded earthly comfort for purity of heart which to him is more important. Most of them wound up dying of the plague, but again Sharz praises them for having died with honor.

Dialogue[edit]

"Greetings fellow traveler of … whatever town we're in!
Speak to me as a friend, for that is what we shall become! That is unless you have darkness in your heart. Then we will part as the greatest of enemies. For I only mingle with those pure!"
You're awfully—
"Righteous? I know. It is the many years I've studied underneath the tutelage of the noblest and most honorable of lords and ladies.
My teachers would give their food to the hungry. Their money to the poor. Their clothes to the naked!"
They sound very giving.
"They were! So much so they ended up on the streets with no home, no money, and no food. But they had purity in their hearts and that's what was important.
Until they caught the plague. Then most of them died. But they died with honor!"

After meeting Thanlen at their camp, he'll send you on to find the rest of the group at [[Online:Valenvaryon|]:

Theyo Prevette: "This land is more hostile than I expected … maybe we should have gone with Farwen to set the wards."
Sharz: "Assuage your doubts, my friend. Farwen is a righteous woman who smites evil with her depth of goodness! She will be fine."
Theyo Prevette: "Right …."

Speak to him before speaking to Theyo, and he'll tell you:

"This soil is corrupt. The stain of evil pollutes this land and must be scoured clean like a pair of soiled trousers.
Today we ready ourselves for a great cleansing! You hear me evil? You shall be scrubbed into Oblivion by days end!"

After speaking to Theyo:

"I do hope our friend Farwen is all right. Her religion and gods interest me greatly, though my giving nature is often beholden to so many worthy causes I am without means to support hers.
Perhaps once we are paid for this mission, I will learn more."

After helping, and losing, Farwen, return to the men and you'll see them in a circle ward with Theyo gesturing like he's casting a spell:

Sharz: "My righteous friend, what are you doing with your hands?"
Theyo Prevette: "It intimidates the ghosts when I stand like this. It tricks them into believing that I'm the one wielding this power."
Lord Thanlen: "You look like an idiot."
Theyo Prevette: "Begone, evil spirits! Begone! Oh, hey… it worked."
"Farwen does not stand with you, yet her ward is active. Is this yet another secret of her faith?"

After speaking to Theyo, he'll say:

"We will rescue our friend and complete the job of exterminating these spirits.
The hateful dead cannot serve the bonds of true camaraderie and honor!"

Gather a strong essence and return to the ward:

Theyo Prevette: "Place the essence in the circle here. We're ready to begin the summoning."
Theyo Prevette: "Rise up, spirit and be bound to my command!"
Captive Spirit: "Why do you summon me, vessels?"
Sharz: "Vengeful spirit, you will tell us where your master holds our friend!"
Captive Spirit: "Silence, weaklings. I will speak to the one who brought me here."
Theyo Prevette: "W—wait, that's not how this is supposed to work."
Captive Spirit: "You lack the will to command me."

There are two paths to the quest. One is if you killed Farwen to free her from Galgalah. If you took that path, you can return to the barracks in Gnisis and tell Theyo what happened. He'll mention that Sharz is resting and he'll tell Sharz what happened. Sharz will not be around to interact with.

The second path is if you convinced Farwen to fight Galgalah. In that case, you'll return to...

Theyo Prevette: "And our hero returns! Let's hear it for our friend here!"
Sharz: "To bravery, honor, and righteousness!"
Farwen Temolire: "May the Old God's blessings be upon you!"
"Your actions are selfless and courageous. You have proven yourself worthy of the name friend!
I would buy you a drink to toast it, but my coin is already pledged to the orphanage of my homeland. Come to think, can I borrow some gold to pay for this?"
