Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

You arrive at the Sulfur Pools only to be greeted by chaos. The Covenant has run the Othrys family off of their farm, razed their property, and have killed many of their laborers and guar. The Othrys family, who owns the Sulfur Pools, has been separated. Garvas Othrys is at the family's stead, but cannot leave his position because he must defend their home. Cloya, one of the sulfur miners who works on the plantation, is hiding nearby. Both of them wish to see the Othrys family safe and reunited. Your first task is to find the fieldmaster's sons, Dedras and Mevis, and see if either of them have any idea you where their sister and fieldmaster mother have gone.

Dedras can be found cowering behind an ashen tree near one of the sulfur pools, and Mevis can be found on a wooden platform surrounded by shalks, directly above one of said boiling pools of sulfur. The last brother you talk to will give you some useful information:

"We got split up. The last I saw Drathyra, she and Mother were just ahead of the invaders.
There's a cave at the edge of the pools. Drathy, Mevis, and I used to play there. I'll bet that's where they went."

Find this cave, and you'll see Drathyra kneeling beside her mother, who is wounded and clearly in pain.

"Why? Why did they do this?"
What happened to your mother?
"He stabbed her. Merciful Three, he stabbed her!
Why did he do that? We did nothing to threaten them."
Calm down. Who stabbed her?
"The captain of the Covenant soldiers. his blade was poisoned. I can already see the edges of mother's wound blackening.
I must be calm. I can't lose my wits like some rattlebrained Altmer."
What can we do to save her?
"He said he had an herbal antidote. He actually waved the bottle in my face. He said I could have it if I, well, entertained him and all his men.
I spat in his face."
I'll get the antidote from him. Where is he now?
"He went south to our guar barns. Said he wanted to hear the beasts scream.
We keep greef brandy in the storage shed there. Light some on fire. I bet that would get his attention."

Head up to the barn, and feel free to gut a Covenant soldier for every loose or dead guar you see on your way up. The barrel is near the leftmost stable in the barn area. Burning the Greef will cause the barrel to explode, and the Covenant Captain will come out to investigate what made the loud noise. Kill him and take the antidote, then head back to the cave and give it to Drathyra. You arrive in the nick of time! Drathyra thanks you for your help and assists her mother in hurrying back to their family's stead, where her father and brothers are waiting.

"You're back! Do you have the antidote?"
Did I make it back in time?
"I think so. Please, give me the bottle."
Here it is.
"The Three bless you.
Mother? Everything's going to be fine now."

Speak with Garvas Othrys to receive his gratitude and a reward for reuniting his family.

"Drathyra tells me your actions saved my wife from a painful death.
I am in your debt. And I honor my debts."
I see your whole family got here safely.
"That's thanks to you. As I said, I honor my debts, but until we drive the Covenant from Stonefalls, this is all I can offer.
Now, I must speak with Dedras. He smells like he dishonored himself."

Quest Stages[edit]

Peril at the Pools
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
Dedras and Mevis are somewhere in the sulfur pools. They could be in danger from the caustic environment and wild shalk.
Objective: Rescue Dedras Othrys
Objective: Rescue Mevis Othrys
I spoke with the Othrys brothers. Neither of them are sure where their mother and sister have gone. One thought they might have taken refuge in a cave near the sulfur pools. I should head there next.
Objective: Enter the Cave
I think I've found the right cave, but I heard the sounds of a struggle as I approached. I should seek out Saalu and Drathyra as soon as possible.
Objective: Talk to Drathyra Othrys
The commander of the Covenant soldiers wielded the poisoned blade that injured Saalu. The commander taunted Drathyra with an herbal antidote, then walked off with it. The invaders went south of Saalu's cave to burn the Othrys' barns.
Objective: Collect the Herbal Antidote
Objective Hint: Dathyra [sic] said lighting some greef brandy on fire might catch the attention of the Covenant commander.
Objective Hint: Kill Captain Falkwind
I recovered the antidote. I must bring it back to the cave before Saalu's poison spreads too far.
Objective: Talk to Drathyra Othrys
Finishes quest☑ I've found everyone in the Othrys clan. I should return to the stead on the southern side of the Sulfur Pools.
Objective: Talk to Garvas Othrys
