Furon Rii

Furon Rii can be found at Sergeant Rhorlak's camp between Davon's Watch and Starved Plain in Stonefalls. He is concerned about a nearby activity of spirits. He and his brother Giron devised a plan to enslave the spirits that are troubling Starved Plain and put them in the Pact's service. After this plan is carried out with your help, he is horrified at the outcome and fears that his brother might be under the influence of Molag Bal's cultists, which he wants you to investigate.

Through the Aftermath[edit]

Before you start the quest:

"What? Today, of all days? What was it about today that made these spirits become so restless?"

After speaking to Sergeant Rhorlak, you can ask:

You're talking about the ghosts?
"Ah, greetings. Yes, I was just thinking about the situation here. These spirits make up an ancient army of Chimer warriors. Blademasters from the time before Red Mountain.
It's fascinating to observe ancestors so … closely."
The sergeant asked me to speak with you. You have a plan to deal with them?
"My brother's plan, actually. Giron believes we can control the dead, harness them in a powerful defense for the Watch. His method must be tested before we attempt a larger ritual."
Tested how?
"Take this Smoky Pendant and use it on one of the ancient dead. You may have to weaken it a bit first.
If it binds a spirit, bring both back to me. If it doesn't … well, we'll deal with that when the time comes."
I'll see it done.

You can then ask him questions.

"Go bind a spirit. I need to know if the ritual can work."
Can I ask you a few questions about these spirits first?
"Do you really need to know more to use Giron's pendant? Hmph. Fine, I will answer what questions you have."
You said these spirits are Chimer?
"Yes, the ancient precursors to the noble Dark Elf race. Warred with the Dwemer and the Nedes from the north, sought to master the world around them. A rich race, with a fascinating history.
But not important right now."
Where did the spirits come from?
"I have theories. The volcano, the Covenant … several variables to account for.
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say some kind of magical disturbance, combined with the presence of an invading army, rousted the Chimer from Aetherius."
Why did they attack the Covenant?
"They seem to be attacking everyone. Clearly these soldiers died in battle. In death, their hatred and battle–lust lives on eternally. The perfect weapon, in the right hands."

After binding a spirit to the pendant:

"Ah, you brought a spectral friend. Nicely done."
This proves you brother's idea works, then?
"Just so. It proves we can force these spirits to guard Davon's Watch! A potent defense for any future siege.
Giron has a plan for repeating this ritual on a larger scale."
The sergeant wanted me to speak to Reesa before deciding.

Before speaking to Reesa:

"These people are my ancestors. Why let them wallow in the past when they could protect our future?"

After speaking to Reesa:

"Make your decision. These men are already dead. Why give up power we could harness today?"

After testing Reesa's plan:

"Make your decision.
These men are already dead. They are beyond mortal concern."

Speaking to him before speaking to Rhorlak:

"Make your decision, and decide well.
Our plan ensures the safety of Davon's Watch. Will you throw that away?"

If you spoke to Rhorlak and haven't make a decision yet:

"Make your decision.
We must act before the enemy returns."

If you choose his plan, after speaking to Giron he'll add:

"Excellent! This plan will save many lives. You'll see.
There's an ancient altar nearby. Gather the skulls. My brother and I will join you there."

Arrive at the altar and Furon will call to you:

Furon Rii: "You've arrived, so let's begin."

Speak to him before placing the skulls and he'll tell you:

"My brother has other matters to attend to, but I followed his instructions to prepare the ritual.
According to him, we start by placing the bones in the fire."

Place the skulls in the altar and Furon will evocate the ritual which will call General Radrathren:

Furon Rii: "By your bones, I compel you! Serve us, spirits!"
General Radrathren: "Fool! You don't have the power to compel me."

Defeat General Radrathren and Furon will say:

"Vivec guide us, his scream … so much pain.
Is it done?"
The ritual is complete.
"My brother's spell bound them to guard Davon's Watch.
It wasn't supposed to be like this. It wasn't supposed to be like torture."

If you choose to follow Reesa's plan instead and before speaking to her:

"You have given away our best defense. Pray there are no further attacks."

Speaking to him again if you accepted Reesa's plan and spoke to her about it:

"I see. That soft Argonian convinced you. Will we throw away our weapons next? Just remember what might have been."

If you completed the quest with Reesa's plan, he will be furious at you:

"Tribunal curse you, s'wit.
To have wasted such a potent power. Remember this the next time Davon is attacked."

Wayward Son[edit]

If you continue your conversation, he'll express his regret further.

"It worked, but this was necromancy of the blackest sort.
My brother … it was his work. And I, s'wit that I am, helped him."
What do you mean?
"Necromancy. He tricked me into doing Molag Bal's will.
I knew his studies pushed the fringe. It must have been that circle of mages he's taken up with."
"Circle of mages"?
"He thought I didn't know. Unsavory types, disbarred from the Mages Guild. I was going to find out the truth!
You should investigate. They meet in a cave near the southern camp."
I'll learn what I can.

If you speak to him again before leaving he'll say:

"Make sure my brother doesn't ruin the reputation of House Rii."

After you've gone to the cave and retrieved the ritual book, you'll find Furon at a camp south of the Starved Plain, right outside the cave.

"I don't like the look on your face. What did you find in that cave?"
He was part of a cult, sacrificing Pact troops. Here's their ritual book.
"Sacrificing our own people! This monstrosity must stop!
The commanders at Davon's Watch must see this immediately. And … and I must tell them about Giron."

Speaking with him again after the quest:

"I must gather my thoughts before I go to Davon's Watch. I have to report my own brother for necromancy.
By the Three, I must be strong."
