The drained Frayed Fate at Vivec's Antlers

The Frayed Fates are vaguely defined alternate fatelines of Azandar al-Cybiades, likely to appear at locales where he spent a considerable amount of time. He is scrying for them in an attempt to find out what is happening to them. The first one is encountered near the water pools in Vivec's Antlers, where it has been hollowed out of its energy by The Adversary to increase his power.

The Frayed Fate being drained at Ilayas

Another one can be found at the top of Ilayas Ruins. Azandar speculates the fate at Ilayas is a version of him that actually learned something useful from studying those ruins, as all he had to show for my time there was a few snakebites and an ill-advised romantic entanglement. When you find it, it is being drained of its energy before falling to the ground,

A Frayed Fate in the Ametric Chamber

Two of the fates are found being drained and tortured by the Adversary in the Ametric Interval Chamber of Nchuleftingth. You must use the Fateweaver Key to dispel them so that they are not completely drained.

Quest-Related Events

Keep following the trail of fate threads, and you will come across the frayed fate you were tracking:

Azandar: "Look! Is that one of my frayed fates on the ground?"

You find it splayed out on the ground and somehow empty looking. Use the key to untie it and stitch it back into the universe. Azandar will comment afterwards:

Azandar: "Disturbing. Ominous!"

At the top of Ilayas Ruins, you will find another frayed fate in the process of being drained by a mysterious green beam, falling to the ground:

Azandar: "There! Another fate. Drained and lingering. Use the Fateweaver Key, if you please."

<You use the Fateweaver Key on the frayed fate, and is dissipates.>

Azandar: "The adversary was just here, we can track him! I'm constructing a rune of seeking."

Azandar is incapacitated while his fates are drained in Nchuleftingth Ametric Interval Chamber

Once inside the Ametric Interval Chamber, you will find two frayed fates writhing in pain as they are drained by the Adversary:

Azandar: "He's here! We've got him!"

The Adversary: "Welcome, counterpart. It's here that we discovered the true potential of the fatelines. And I've returned to claim the device I needed."

The Adversary: "We both saw the power, the potential. The chance to claim the strength of your lessers. You rebuke our very nature!"

<Azandar is knocked back by the Adversary's power.>

You with need to use the Fateweaver key to dispel the fates before they are drained completely. Speaking with downed Azandar:

"Don't worry about me! Deal with the fates!"

Once you have dispelled the fates, the Adversary will take his leave:

The Adversary: "I am the part of you that knows the true way to power. And we shall meet again."

Azandar: "Damn it. Let's get out of here and talk."
