Dialogue[edit]

When spoken with, he will mention a nearby cavern he visits—Sandblown Mine and will mark it on your map.

"Wayfarer! Would you be wise in the ways of the desert? Hearken to what I have to tell you."
Very well. You have my attention.
"The desert can be cruel and unrelenting. A wise traveler knows where he can find shade and cool during the heat of the day."
Plenty of shade here.
"Ah, but if you were in the open desert, it would not be so. When I cross the wastes, I always keep in mind the nearest refuge from the sun."
Give me an example.
"There's a mine I often use, because underground is even better than under canvas. Allow me to mark it on your map."

Quest-Related Events[edit]

If you have explored the mine beforehand or went there afterwards and learnt the truth, you can return to Fadeel to confront him. At first he will claim to be ignorant of the place.

"You look like a person of great intelligence. Allow me, wayfarer, to let you in on a secret."
Have you been to Sandblown Mine recently, Fadeel?
"What? Sandblown Mine? My friend, I don't even know where that is … or what it is, even! Is it nearby?"
You know exactly where it is. You've been sending people there.
"Sending people to a mine? By Morwha's left teat, why would I do that? Is there … um … is there gold there?"
No. Just a lot of snakes.
"Dreadful! Well … all this talk of snakes and mines—it is exhausting. I'll just be going now. I have a long day of work tomorrow. Lifting things … you know, carrying them. That sort of thing. It has been a pleasure speaking with you!"
Not so fast.
"Well I … that is to say … They made me do it! Friend, I beseech you—show mercy. I am an innocent man! I had no choice. They told me they would feed me to the snake if I didn't cooperate!
Please just let me go!"
No. You must face justice.
"Lead on, then. Take me where you will."
Go. And never come back.
"You will not be sorry, my friend. I assure you that my days of aiding man-eating serpents are over!"

If you choose to make him pay for his crimes, Fadeel will become your prisoner and he can be lead to Constable Ebarah. If spoken to at the stocks he will see it as a better fate than to be eaten by snakes.

"Whatever the constable does to me, it'll be better than being eaten by a snake. At least … at least I hope so."

If you choose to let him go, he'll run off and fade into the distance.
