When you speak to him down in the fort's dungeons:

"I've heard the stories about Ahknara, but she's a Redguard, not a Daedra."

After you've activated all of the pressure plates, Ahknara will ambush Strikes-in-Shadows's group. Baem will run after her, and when you go to confront Ahknara, you'll find his corpse on the ground nearby.
