Getting out[edit]

I'm trying to get out of the Sidways Caves and I'm stumped, any help out there? — Unsigned comment by 24.11.30.156 (talk) at 22:08 on 3 May 2007‎ (GMT)

Where exactly are you having a problem? Which zone are you in? I don't remember anything tricky in Sideways Cave, so without a bit more information on what the problem is I can't really help. --NepheleTalk 21:34, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

Nature of the Tablets?[edit]

Could the tablets be a reference to Umaril? He did strike an alliance with Meridia, and IS an Ayleid... Kurai-sama 12:56, May 20 2007 (GMT +3)

upper region of lake[edit]

It is possible to get to the upper region of the lake surrounding the edges using the paintbrush-hanging-in-air trick. But it is a lot of work and there is no secret stash up there. There is a pretty waterfall. There is an Ayelid container hidden behind a wall near one of the tablets. — Unsigned comment by 143.183.121.1 (talk) at 05:49 on 18 July 2007 (GMT)

(Not sure where in the discussion I should put this, or how relevent it might be for other players, but . . .) FYI, my character got stuck on top of the humped log at the extreme NW section of zone 2, right where the cask is (green dot on map, near the F - location of first tablet). It only happened once, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. My character could look around, cast spells, etc. but couldn't move at all. Everything seemed normal, too. I'd tried to get to the upper level by jumping from the log to the ruined supports and then up to the top and had never gotten stuck before, but this one time he became completely immobile. I had to restart the game and go through the whole cave again. Don't know if it matters, but I'm on a PS3. 204.108.237.194 14:23, 23 April 2009 (EDT) Marcus
I have Oblivion for PC. I just visited this section in game and I had trouble getting to the upper region of the lake. So I decided to take a look at the Hidden Lake section through The Elder Scrolls Construction Set. I saw a few collision boxes blocking some possible ways to get the upper region of the lake. The collision boxes are noticeable in-game by areas where the character isn't able to go above or beyond a certain point. ~cyalknight@gmail.com — Unsigned comment by 205.134.214.40 (talk) at 09:48 on 25 April 2012 (GMT)

Curious...[edit]

Abagarlas appears to be very ancient; perhaps one the most ancient Ayleid ruins in all Cyrodiil.

I am curious what about the ruins make it ancient? Just because it is destroyed and buried does not mean it is ancient. That simply means it was destroyed and buried, eh? The page [Aylied tablets] even says that it was destroyed and eventualy buried by Meridia in her rage. Unless there is some other source saying that it is an old ruin then great but just because it looks all messed up does not mean it is old. I figured I would point that out. --W27Y 08:36, 21 July 2008 (EDT)

It's ancient because the Ayleid's are a dead race now. Their ruins are scattered all across Cyrodill. Abagarlas, in fact, was discovered by the Ayleid's, they did not build it. Thus proving that it is ancient. — Unsigned comment by 75.159.69.130 (talk) on 23 November 2009
It's ancient because the Ayleids ruled in the mythic era (before recorded history, in other words, before the first era) and the second era lasted over 1,500 years! therefore, the ruin is surly over 2,500 years old, i think that qualifies as ancient, don't you agree? {{Sash the Unseen/24/09/2011 — Unsigned comment by 201.144.51.43 (talk) on 25 September 2011

Treasure[edit]

In the Lost Abagarlas zone, instead of potions I found one Rusty Iron Shortsword, one Rusty Iron Mace, and two Rusty Iron Daggers among the bedrolls. -- --Mebestien 06:28, 25 October 2008 (EDT)

in the throne room y found a ayleid reliquary that needs a key to be opened i search everyway but there isn't one 190.136.132.230 19:30, 27 May 2009 (EDT) 08:38, 27 may 2009. (EDT)
In the throne room there is only one chest: a boss chest which is actually an Ayleid Cask. It will probably locked; but does not require a key. Maybe you have a mod installed that changes this. --SerCenKing Talk 15:11, 28 May 2009 (EDT)
yes i have the ooo, but thanks for answer me i will ask around and if i findout any thing i'll tell — Unsigned comment by 200.82.88.38 (talk) 02:17, 29 May 2009 (GMT)
If it's the one among the roots in the alcove, it's added by OOO. There is a key, but it's not in the cave. You have to do the Thieves Guild questline to find the key. --Gaebrial 04:39, 29 May 2009 (EDT)
it is between the bedrols on the corner in the throne room(by the way the key you mention has a name??) — Unsigned comment by 190.31.191.230 (talk) at 22:11 on 29 May 2009 (GMT)

Skeletons[edit]

In zone 1 there is one skeleton in the room just south of the door to zone two. Along with the leather shield there was a rusty iron dagger laying next to him.

Also in zone 1 are eight skeletons in a pile around the chest. There is a bit of loose gold around and under the skeletons (couldn't get it all so I don't have a count). The pile also has the fur shield and iron shield mentioned plus a rusty war axe and a rusty iron shortsword.

Zone 1 also has a deer with venison.

In zone 2 there was one skeleton but nothing that I saw around it.

Also in zone 2 it should be noted the the door to zone 3 that is closer to the entrance from zone 1 can only be accessed from zone 3 (or maybe with some serious acrobatics).

In zone 3 there are six skeletons. Again I did not find anything along side them.

All these skeletons contain bonemeal (if you happen to need some... or I guess even if you don't).

I also found the 2 rusty iron daggers, a rusty iron shortsword, and a rusty iron mace along side the bedrolls. — Unsigned comment by 66.190.50.81 (talk) at 19:45 on 30 October 2009 (GMT)

Ayleid Tablets![edit]

Hi! Hey, I was playing my game and I decided to visit Sideways Cave again after not doing so for so long. I got to one of the tablets and I was reminded of what I've been wondering about and looking for. Now I'm here to ask. I want to be able to pick those tablets up and have them in my inventory. The description for them, that I just read, says that they can be picked up instead of saying,"When activated you can read them only." If they actually can be picked up, without the "Take" option being there, well, how is it done then? Or does it require a Console Cheat or a mod? If so, which cheat or which mod(s)?

Thanks for any help!

Leo Star Dragon 1.

P.S.: Oh! Are they in the crate labeled, "All Books & Scrolls" or something like that, in one of the Testing Hall's rooms? I recently tried that crate and opted for "Take All" and saw some items in my inventory that usually can't be picked up. Despite some mods that make items non-quest items, some of them must have been scripted as having them skipped ahead in a few quests I wasn't even playing yet. So be warned if you want to play with that crate too.— Unsigned comment by Leo Star Dragon 1 (talkcontribs) at 07:36 on 6 December 2009‎ (GMT)

In vanilla Oblivion, it's impossible to pick them up. I suppose you can put them in your inventory via a console command, but I don't know how that's done. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 10:41, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

A wealthy 'Altmer' scholar?[edit]

When I came to this cave, I think I saw a Bosmer Scholar, I think I'm about 100% sure about this. It was a bosmer, not an Altmer. Could someone check the Constuction set to verify this?--Arch-Mage Matt 01:47, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Well even though I don't have access to the CS, I'm sure that he's an altmer. What did you see or how are you convinced that he's a bosmer? --MC S'drassa T2M 02:09, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
Unless I am mistaken, I saw a short fellow with pale pink skin.--Arch-Mage Matt 02:12, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
He's an Altmer Bard according to the CS. They're not all bright yellow as they were in Morrowind. –rpehTCE 09:03, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

originaly an enemy?[edit]

one of the tablets says the Terror-f-the-moist thing "comes" the fourth star hour but the scholor also wrote (came?)well maybe at first the Terror-of-the-moist thin was originaly going to be an enemy that came at 4 P.M. at night but they changed it last minute. anybody else thought that or am I the only one?(Sdharly 22:57, 7 March 2010 (UTC))

It doesn't seem likely, I'm afraid. The rest of the location makes it pretty clear that it's a history as described on the article. rpeh •TCE 19:25, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
