map location #8[edit]

What does "map location #8" refer to? Which map? Is it a map available to most wiki readers? If not, this should be removed. --Actreal 05:43, 3 June 2006 (EDT)

Going back through old versions of the page, the #8 seems to refer to an early version of the daedric shrines map where the shrines were numbered instead of ID'd by name. I agree that the #8 doesn't seem to be needed any more, and went ahead and deleted it. --Nephele 14:00, 3 June 2006 (EDT)

Hints[edit]

It seems to me like alot of the hints here really belong on the Howling Cave page, since you can go into Howling Cave whenever you want and kill off the Necromancers. (Yes, I did check this: my character killed the necromancers before ever going to Meridia's shrine). Anyone agree? --Nephele 17:07, 24 July 2006 (EDT)

Hint[edit]

At higher levels I found it much easier to just cast a frenzy spell and let everyone fight it out than to try and tackle all the necromancers and undead myself. — Unsigned comment by 195.137.100.119 (talk) at 17:09 on 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Scottish Accent[edit]

I removed the following from the main page:

  • Meridia was voiced with a scottish accent

Yes it's a Scottish accent but including that information when we say elsewhere who voiced the character (Adoring Fan, Oblivion:Uriel Septim VII, Martin) seems a total cop-out. If we can't say who it was we shouldn't say anything. --RpehTalk 16:16, 2 October 2007 (EDT)

Possible bug?[edit]

I killed all the Necromancers in the cave, but I didn't get the 'mission achieved' message. Meridia doesn't answer or give any rewards.

I used a hit-and-run tactic. I went to the dungeon several times, trying to wipe out one necromancer at a time. At some point I lost track of one of them, and he doesn't appear anywhere in the map. Could that last necromancer have escaped somewhere? Is it because I used Erthor as an aid? Or is it because one of the necromancers died in the Howling Cave upper level?

Please help me. I really want that ring. I'm playing with a PS3. Thank you.

You have to kill the five necromancers marked with a Q on the Howling Cave page. It should not matter where you kill them. –RpehTCE 12:13, 18 September 2008 (EDT)
Thank you for your quick reply. Is it possible that one of them chased me out of the cave and is outside without a target indicator (red-green arrow)?

Unlikely, but possible I suppose. Your best bet may be to reload and try again. –RpehTCE 00:42, 19 September 2008 (EDT)

I didn't have to. There was a necromancer outside the cave, and there was no red/green arrow. Mission accomplished. Thank you, kind sir! — Unsigned comment by 88.11.112.49 (talk) at 18:44 on 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Vampire[edit]

It states that she has a STRONG hatred of undead. So what happens if you talk to her as a vampire? — Unsigned comment by 75.164.160.58 (talk) on 25 November 2008

Meridia doesn't care if you're a vampire - just that you're level 10+ and have the appropriate offering. –RpehTCE 06:28, 25 November 2008 (EST)
Which isn't surprising, given that vampires are not undead. --NepheleTalk 15:50, 30 November 2008 (EST)
Uhm, actually vampires ARE undead. "The vampires of Tamriel are undead, diseased persons who are hated, hunted, and misunderstood by the living."and that's a quote straight from the lore page. So it actually IS weird Meridia doesn't react differently to you if you are a vampire. I think there is even some dialogue somwehere in the TES games that state her despise for the bloodsuckers specifically. However in Skyrim Bethesda still forgot to fix this as you can still become her champion as a vampire. I know this post is 7 years old, but I felt this is a huge error that needed to be corrected. --Anon 3 April 2015 — Unsigned comment by 84.107.48.78 (talk) at 12:37 on 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Map location[edit]

Can someone please add a relative location of the shrine in the detailed walkthrough section? I really have no use for this page if the only description is that I have to find the shrine on my own and that nobody can tell me ingame. — Unsigned comment by 24.7.247.203 (talk) on 9 August

The page already says it's west of Skingrad so you could start your search there, or you could click the Map link at the top of the page instead of dismissing other people's work. –rpehTCE 06:53, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Bonemeal?[edit]

In the GOTY edition, Meridia does not seem to accept bonemeal. Pueblonative 14:03, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

See the entry about the rare 2-gold value variety of Bonemeal in the Notes section of the article. --Timenn-<talk> 14:31, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Necromancers and Liches battle[edit]

I did this quest at about 37th level. I killed the first two Necromancers and then I got the message 'I have killed the necromancers in Howling Cave. I should return to the Shrine of Meridia.'. Upon further examination, I found out that there had been a battle between the other three Necromancers and two liches in the inner rooms - the Necromancers were dead and the liches were hurt. This was unexpected, I thought undead and necromancer didn't fight if left by themselves. Is there an explanation for this? Thank you. — Unsigned comment by 85.60.19.54 (talk) at 16:43 on 27 February 2010 (UTC)

If you were near them then they may have hit each other and started to fight but if not then it may be a one-off--Corevette789 16:47, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
I wasn't near. When I got there the fight was over. I understand that Liches and Necromancers hate each other, but even then, why were they together in the first room? — Unsigned comment by 85.60.19.54 (talk) on 27 February 2010
No, it's not a one off. Liches and Necromancers do hate each other and will attack each other on sight. Usually the leveled lists for undead in Necromancer lairs are standard 'Undead', which contain Nether Liches (who aren't hostile) but not full Liches. In Howling Cave there is one undead which is from a 'lvl' list, which contains Liches from level 26 onwards. The Lich and the Necromancers spotted each other and engaged battle. --SerCenKing Talk 17:05, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
It looks like the Litches were the leveled undead in the cave I want some CS verification--Corevette789 17:08, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind there you go --Corevette789 17:09, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Another possible bug?[edit]

I'm playing the PS3 GOTY edition, and the green quest cursor points to her statue but I couldn't talk to it, and even more bizarre I can walk into it. I had tried looking around on the ground for the talk button and up at her statue while inside it but to no avail. I had tried saving and reloading, waiting until morning and until a storm passed but that didn't work. However I tried loading an earlier save and not killing anything except a wolf (I had the jumbo potatoes from The Potato Snatcher quest and before I reloaded an earlier save, had collected the bear claws for Bear Season, I had also completed Malacath's deadric quest) and its back to normal. I would probably say save before finding Meridia's shrine, just in case someone encounters this bug too. Wolfeh 00:12, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

I guess this is another example of what Kivan describes at this page. The chance that someone else encounters the same problem is not very high. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 14:55, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

special dialouge[edit]

If youve killed Umaril and have the Crusaders Relics on does she say any special dialouge or does it stay the same?? — Unsigned comment by Secret Chief (talkcontribs) at 19:40 on 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Why would she have new dialogue? She literally plays no role in the quest besides a link to Umaril. The connection of which plays literally no part in the quest. Alpha Kenny Buddy 19:36, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Moved note[edit]

  • One of the necromancers inside the cave has a chance of dropping a Black Soul Gem, which can be used to start Vaermina's Daedric quest.

Though I already finished my task, why not stay on top of the notes for the future? Though I know necromancers have a chance to drop Black Soul Gems, I think it is like a two percent chance. More importantly this doesn't really have anything to do with the quest that this page is for. This would of been more notable on Vaermina's quest page, but only slightly even then. --AKB Talk 01:49, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
