Factions[edit]

Is Hieromymus Lex stil member of the Imperial Watch and IC Citizens factions and not a member of the anvil Citizens after the "taking care of lex" quest? It would be strange that someone living in anvil still is meber of those factions, but not member of the anvil factions. so can someone look at it? I only play oblivion on the X-box-360 so I can't look into the construction set.David 13:09, 18 June 2007 (EDT)

His factions are indeed changed; the article has been updated with the details. --NepheleTalk 12:20, 15 June 2007 (EDT)

Huh?[edit]

"...who has placed all the posters..." Something in that line is ambiguous. Where did he place the posters, as such? Somercy 11:06, 20 September 2007 (EDT)

And two-and-a-half years later, I've reworded it.  ;) --GKtalk2me 18:07, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

His Beat[edit]

Maybe this is part of the update I've seen Rpeh discussing, but where all does Lex travel on his beat? I see him all over the IC and I was curious if there was a set path he takes. Thanks! xoxo Coryl 20:37, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I took these notes on Sun's Dusk 4-5, 3E433, right before giving him his transfer orders, at lvl 5 on PS3 GOTY Ed.
I arrived at 9:55 and he was on the Marie Elena. He fought off the pirates who became hostile when I approached him, though I reloaded after this and continued without this happening. He's about 13 levels higher than them, so this can save you some trouble sometime. They may have turned hostile toward him as well when I activated their "trespasser present" AI or something like that.
10pm: Returns to South Watch Tower.
12pm: Goes upstairs to bed.
6am: Wakes and goes downstairs for breakfast.
8am: Goes on patrol in Arboretum.
10am: Patrols the Arcane University.
11am: Goes back to Temple District, but arrives just before noon.
12pm: Returns to South Watch Tower for lunch.
2pm: Patrols the Temple District in front of the Palace entrance.
3pm: Moves to the Waterfront entrance in the same district.
4pm: Stands near the Lighthouse on its side facing the city.
5pm: Moves near the Marie Elena.
6pm: Goes to the Bloated Float for dinner, sits on the bench overlooking the restaurant with Methredhel. (lolwut?)
8pm: Returns to the Marie Elena and stays until 10.
I don't know if this is consistent, so go ahead and check me. I wonder how consistently he and Methredhel eat together.
Upon arriving in Anvil, he went to bed, as it was about 1am.
7am: Wakes up and eats breakfast in the barracks.
8am: He goes to guard the dungeons, but doesn't really go far from their entrance nearest the barracks. Other guards tell him they are there to relieve him, and he says his feet are tired, which doesn't really make much sense, considering he just woke up and went to work.
10: He disappeared into a wall heading somewhere else.
I guess that adventure's over for now. Someone pick it up. Confirm.
He still wears the same fancy armor and sword. --Stevepoppers 06:57, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

language[edit]

Deleted a couple of paragraphs on account of them being horribly written. I would suggest not contributing to an English language wiki unless you have decent skills. 24.239.162.254 03:26, 9 April 2009 (EDT)

Inventory[edit]

I pickpocketed him to see, during the above tracking, but did not save after he attacked me for it. He was carrying:

1 Brown Shirt
1 Light Brown Linens
1 Pigskin Shoes
1 Apple
1 Imperial Watch Key
1 South Watch Tower Key
7 Gold

Again, I don't know what's consistent or not, but here's the data.

If you pickpocket him while he is sleeping, he has his Silver Claymore on him, but not his armor. (Are these leveled?) This would be the only chance to get the sword from him, as you cannot steal it while he is awake and while he is essential, it cannot be taken when he is unconscious, and the armour seems to not actually exist in the game. There is nothing of particular note in his room. --Stevepoppers 06:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Lex.[edit]

Is it worth pointing out that Lex is the archenemy of Superman? JackTurbo95 12:06, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

No. That's irrelevant to The Elder Scrolls. rpeh •TCE 13:04, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I just thought it is worth saying ...JackTurbo95 18:51, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Moved note[edit]

  • Lex is a Latin word meaning "law." Given his role, it is likely that Lex's surname comes from this word.

This counts as an etymology/speculation does it not? I moved it here on those grounds. If anyone thinks it should be re-added leave a note here first explaining why. --AKB Talk Contribs 17:49, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

It actually stands for "Written Law" JackTurbo95 18:51, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I think that it's totally appropriate to be added to the notes section. After all, in other pages on UESP there are notes explaining the background/etymology of character's name, and Bethesda has been known to use Latin as kind of an "in joke" for those that can read it. Tarhiel the Easter Egg Bosmer in Morrowind as an example of background of a name in the notes section on this wiki and Vulpes Inculta of Fallout New Vegas as an example of Latin come to mind. (Although to be fair to the discussion, the Vulpes Inculta note was pulled due to a big disagreement on that wiki whether Bethesda meant "Desert Fox" "Wasteland Fox" or something else. But no one is denying that the developers meant to put it in there.). And it's not speculation if "Written Law" is indeed what Hieronymus Lex translates to. Not knowing Latin, I couldn't say. But if it does, it's obviously not a coincidence due to the character's role in the game and should be added to the notes section, although in a manner that just states "Hieronymus Lex" means "Written Law" in Latin. I've re-added the note, seeing as we're being more lenient with etymology now. —Legoless 02:56, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
