Oblivion talk:Bittneld and Emfrid

"Bitneld" not appearing as an option in Emfrid's dialogue.

I followed the method to the letter but "Bitneld" doesn't show-up. I was wondering if there is a way to push the Stage further. (Okay, I didn't notice that I need to install the Unofficial Patch to get it going. You might need to talk to Casta as well to get that dialogue to show up. This page won't be of much use to you without the mod though. —Legoless (talk) 23:40, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

I had this exact same issue in my save, but I had the Unofficial Patch installed. I started a new save with the same mod loadout and the quest worked, so it's not an issue with my mods. Maybe it was corrupted when I updated the Unofficial Patch to a newer version some time ago?

Anyway, I found out that the console command "AddTopic BittneldTopic" made the topic show up for all the relevant NPCs (guards and Emfrid), and the rest of the quest worked without issues. --Hessuu (talk) 02:13, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Have you talked to Casta about Chorrol with the latest UOBP installed? I think that is what triggers the appearance of the topic. -- SarthesArai ^Talk 11:59, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Talking to Casta doesn't seem to be necessary. In a new save I could just go straight to talking to Bittneld, and it made the topic appear.

I explored the quest's inner workings with TES4Edit. The Chorrol topic for Casta doesn't have any scripts attached to it nor does it add any topics, so it shouldn't affect the quest in any way. Same goes for her introduction speech. The quest is actually started by Bittneld introducing himself to you for the first time, which adds the Bittneld topic. This makes the topic appear for Chorrol guards, but not for Emfrid just yet. Bittneld's Chorrol topic has a script attached to it that sets the "EmfridBittneld" variable that controls the quest to 1, which is a condition for the Bittneld topic to appear for Emfrid.

In my issue's case Bittneld's introduction somehow failed to add the topic.

So if you are having this issue and you have the Unofficial Patch installed, first try the console command "show EmfridBittneld". If it says "Value = 1.0000", you are having the same issue as me. You can use the command "AddTopic BittneldTopic" to fix it, like I said earlier. --Hessuu (talk) 15:55, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry for the late reply, I always talk to Casta first, it's what I meant when I said that "I follow the method to the letter." I installed the latest Unofficial patch and talked to Casta, to start this again, and no success. Using the "AddTopic BittneldTopic" did work. I can confirm, that having the Unofficial Patch installed does not fix this bug. Luckily using the console fixes this problem. Sara Vin (talk) 19:28, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
