Gray Aegis[edit]

Does anyone know of a way to get the Grey Aegis off of the Altmer Hero? Short of using console commands to create one... --Saruuk 05:55, 1 July 2007 (EDT)

Don't think so. The only way would be to break it but that usually only works for weapons.-77BeTa77
There is a description of a method for obtaining the shield here. The same method also used to be described on the main arena page, but was recently removed as "cheating". The additional element not covered in the above seems to be destroying the target's sword first. Supposedly that causes them to unequip the shield also (though I'm not sure why)... thereby removing the 100% magic resistance and making normal skull of corruption/staff of worms style duplication possible. --12.42.51.27 07:11, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
I think they un-equip the shield too, because you're unable to wear one while fighting hand to hand. Galafon 85.144.249.144 08:22, 6 July 2008 (EDT)
It is impossible to get this shield without VERY HEAVY cheating. Yes, it is possible to remove the magic immunity from the opponent. Some idiot suggested waiting until the opponent breaks his weapon by hitting you, in which case he will switch to HtH and unequip the shield. What is he, nuts? What you need to do is hit him with a poisoned weapon which casts silence or paralysis on him to prevent him from jumping away all the time and then disarm him. Use the power attack, after a couple of attempts his weapon is disarmed, he unequips his shield (most of the time, but not always!), now cast drain strength, burden and silence on him, move away, create a clone using the skull of corruption. The clone is not immune to magic, but here's the thing - the cloned shield cannot be disintegrated, so it will never drop to the floor! I don't know why this doesn't work, may be some Disintegrate Armor bug. I disintegrated the clone's armor, but the shield is never affected, I checked through the console and the shield's state always stays at 100%, no matter how often you disintegrate the clone's armor. This simply means this stupid shield is unlootable. Accept this. WRFan 15:01, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
There is a way listed on the glitches page. I have the grey aegis with my oh so mighty dark elf. sorry, not logged on, mikeyboy52 117.81.178.170 16:00, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
A few points:
  • Excellent idea to use the disarm power move if you have a Journeyman weapon skill. It really speeds up getting the shield. The great thing about disarming him is that the same script that prevents you from picking up his weapon also seems to prevent him from doing so; he will crouch down as if trying to pick up the sword, but is unable to.
  • Right again on the poison. Even though he has 100% magic resistance, poison still affects him. Messages pop up saying he resists the effects of the poison, but he actually doesn't.
  • I am playing on the Xbox 360 (GOTY) and have never seen him unequip the shield (it merely gets hidden like when you equip a 2-handed weapon), so he cannot be cloned with the Skull of Corruption or affected by any other kind of magic until he is killed. That is why the Staff of Worms or Risen Flesh power is also needed to get the Aegis. He must first be killed, then reanimated, then cloned, and the shield taken from the clone using the known glitch for looting dead clones before they disappear.66.32.149.75 00:13, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
THE SHIELD IS ATAINABLE Comfirmed on Ps3. Killed the Hero, used Risen Flesh power to revive, then used Skull of Corruption to clone undead Hero. Slashed clone till he went in the air due to fire damage by the Blade of Fiery Light. Finally I moved to the location, and saved, right BEFORE the clone fell and started burning in flames till he dissapears. Lastly, I reloaded a new save as stated above and managed to loot his inventory for The Gray Aegis. Note: let the Hero break his weapon before you kill him so he will unequip the shield. (If the shield falls then it will be marked as "you cannot loot your opponet or something like that". I also did this glitch to get the Yellow Team's Rainments.99.169.161.243 11:25, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Seeking Confirmation before posting to main page[edit]

I finished the Arena line (with the exception of the final match) at around level 10. I postponed fighting the champ because I had already done his side quest and wanted to postpone starting the Brotherhood line until later (I didn't want to carry around a quest assassin dagger while doing the Knights of the Nine quests ;). Later (at lev 20+) I accidentally murdered someone and triggered the Brotherhood, so I figured I might as well go back and beat the champ. He was equipped with a an elven longsword and an elven shield; the appropriate items leveled to when I could have challenged him, not when I did (assuming the elven light shield was replacing an orcish shield like it so often does.) — Unsigned comment by 68.228.131.69 (talk)

The Arena (faction) and Agronak gro-Malog pages both indicate that he is ALWAYS level 10. Apparently this applies to his equipment as well. --12.42.51.27 07:32, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
His equipment is set when you frist enter the Bloodworks. If you enter at Level 1, for example, his sword and shield will both be Iron. At higher levels, they will be steel, elven, etc. This will never change after that point, so you could enter at level 1 with Agronak having Iron equipment, and then fight him at, say, level 17, and he would still have the same. --HMSVictory 07:40, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
I think the developers simply forgot to check the "PC level offset" box. This makes sense, as Yellow Team heroes are 6 levels higher than then player, gladiators are 5 levels higher, which means Agronak is supposed to be 10 levels higher. So if your character is level 49, Agronak should be lvl 59, not lvl 10. I'm going to fix this for myself through the TES WRFan 15:24, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, I joined the arena faction at level 1 beat the first two fights and than leveled up to 38 before finishing that quest line. The champion (the grey prince) had a elven longsword and an elven shield. Although I could be remembering incorrectly, maybe I was level two when I joined.... mikeyboy52 117.81.178.170 16:05, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

we bet but we don't know him[edit]

Should we put the infromation about the combatant who appear when we watch the matches?(Vvardfell 12:35, 11 December 2010 (UTC))

Its randomized to a degree; basically, the race and weapons. So you can end up with a Breton using Hand to Hand. This does not usually end well. 74.132.249.206 05:50, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Light Raiment of Valor[edit]

I was really suprised by how quickly my new "Light Raiment of Valor" degraded during combat. One short fight meant it would completely break, and just two strokes of a repair hammer and it's back to 125 repair.

I thought it was bugged until I checked this page and read it has a life of just 100. This is pretty disappointing. Anyone know why this particular armor has 1 tenth the health of all the others? — Unsigned comment by 91.15.151.53 (talk) at 05:51 on April 5, 2011

Huh, I never noticed that...I would assume a typo, and I'll check later in the CS to see if it is fixed by the UOP if nobody else does first. --DKong27 Talk Cont 13:05, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Taking combatants weapons[edit]

Just wanted to throw this out there for the sake of documentation. You can use Loot Bags to take your opponents weapons in the Arena. If your a collector who's always wanted Shimmerstrike or whatever. There's probably all sorts of applications for loot bag theft, but I'm not really interested in TES till Skyrim comes out. — Unsigned comment by 207.216.130.182 (talk) at 20:05 on 12 October 2011 (GMT)
