Walkthrough

If you ask for mercy for Mauren Ferroul during the quest Ancestor Curse, you'll be cursed to spend eternity in the crypt when you die (which, given your occupation, is likely to be sooner rather than later). In order to avoid your fate, you have to get some information from Talvanus. You need to gather several ingredients, then take them to the Gate of Spirits and place them in the urn.

At this point, you can ask for mercy for yourself or mercy for Mauren. If you choose the former, the ancestors will let you off and you can go your merry way. If you choose the latter, you'll need the Deed to the Ferroul Estate. Hand it over, and they'll forgive him and you can go free.

30		I've taken Mauren's finger.
40		I've found some of Mauren Ferroul's ancestors' bone dust.
50		I've taken some blood from myself with Talvanus' dagger.
60		I have collected all the ingredients. Now I should go seek out the Gate of the Spirits.
70		I put the ingredients in the golden urn at the Gate of the Spirits. Shortly afterwards, a few ghosts appeared and immediately disappeared again. Let's see if there is anything in the urn.
80	Finishes quest	I've cured myself of the ancestral curse with the spirit essence.

Notes

• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDKatharFluch3Quest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
