Gaston Surilie is a Breton rogue and the brother of Davide Surilie. As vintners, they are responsible for some of the most popular wines in and around Cyrodiil, the most common being the regular Surilie Brothers Wine, the rarest and most expensive being the Surilie Brothers Vintage 399.
Although they are both dedicated to their craft, the Surilie Brothers' workday depends on the weather; sunny days are busy days, while rainy days are spent inside the house. Gaston sleeps behind one of the reinforced doors on the top floor every night between midnight and 6am. While Davide leaves for work right away, Gaston waits an hour before he goes to work at 7am. The Surilie vineyard is located in the West Weald, just west of town and Gaston spends the entire morning working the land amidst all the grape vines. At 1pm he finds himself an available chair near the vineyard and enjoys a two-hour lunch. At 3pm he reenters Skingrad and works in his own backyard along with Ambroise Canne. At 8pm he will stop working and just hang out in the backyard until he goes inside at 11pm. On rainy days, he will stay inside the house all day long, eating lunch at 1pm as usual.
Gaston is one of only three Cyrodiil citizens who wears the zero-weight black hood. He also wears a blue & green outfit and a pair of thick cowhide shoes. In combat he will use the shortsword of sparks, an enchanted iron shortsword. Gaston carries his copy of the house key, a hoe, a rake, and a moderately sized amount of gold. He knows a set of leveled rogue spells.

Dialogue[edit]
When you approach the busy vintner for the first time, he will introduce himself:
- "I'm Gaston Surilie. Perhaps you've met my brother, Davide? Together, we are the Surilie Brothers Winery."
When asked about Skingrad, a proud Gaston will reply:
- "Skingrad is the wine-producing capital of Tamriel. You must sample our local wines. You'll never taste better. The 415 vintages were particularly good. The 399... well... a once-in-a-lifetime experience... IF you can find a bottle."
[edit]
Paranoia[edit]
During the related quest, both Gaston and his brother Davide have the following observations about Glarthir:
- "You may have heard he's a bit touched in the head, and that may be true, but he's always been a quiet neighbor. Never given us any trouble."
During the quest, several things can interfere with the brother's peaceful existence. If you deemed Gaston's brother Davide guilty as conspirator, you will receive a List of Death from Glarthir. If at this point you start talking on Glarthir, they will say:
- Glarthir
- "Our neighbor. A bit eccentric. Why, is there something I should know?"
Never mind.
- "Very well."
[Show Glarthir's note]
- "So he finally snapped! I knew we should have warned the guard back when I noticed him trying to break into my house... This has gone far enough. It's past time I dealt with this madman once and for all.
If you show this to Gaston or Davide, both brothers will set off at a running pace and kill Glarthir where he stands. If you then try to talk to him on the topic of Glarthir again, he will say:
- "You did the right thing showing us that note. My brother and I will take care of him, don't worry."
Rumors[edit]
The Surilies' wine is much respected around Skingrad. Residents of the town will be overheard saying:
- "I bought some wine from Gaston Surilie a few days ago. I was very impressed by it."
- "Gaston Surilie and his brother Davide own one of the finest vineyards in all of Cyrodiil."
- "Davide Surilie and his brother make some fine wines. It's a really impressive vineyard."
To which others will respond
- "Gaston and his brother produce quality wines. I'll have to pick up some more."
- "I don't know Gaston well, but I helped him drink his wine. And he always has a mighty fine wine."
- "The Surilie Brothers wine is some of the best in Tamriel, if you ask me."
- "No doubt, they make a fine wine at the Surilie Vineyards."
