Clarification?[edit]

I find that Dispel only cancels Spell effects, not Alchemical effects or Enchantments. With active Greef intoxication, a Drain Personality potion, a spell dealing 1 point of fire damage on self over 50 seconds, and Gambolpuddy activated, casting a 100% Dispel on self only deactivates my fire damage spell. Is this standard (I'm on Xbox GOTY), and should the article clarify that not *all* magical effects are shut down by Dispel? 75.47.98.233 04:52, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I have checked it, it is true ONLY magical effects are removed not Alchemical ones.--Zar Pof 15:40, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
If dispel is enchanted on ring, among other positive effects, for example 6th house artifact Blood Ring with 20% dispel on self, will it dispel these positive effects given by ring, or it will work only on effects that already on player? Oxyk 15:42, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Another late response, but Dispel doesn't work on enchantments it seems, at least I couldn't Dispel a reflected Black Hands Dagger attack.1.123.132.254 13:26, 18 October 2013 (GMT)

100% spell resistance[edit]

While messing around I made a cuirass with the constant effect of dispell 1%. It is the same as having 100% dispell constantly. No spells last more than half a second, damage spells don't have time to effect the player, summon and levitate spells both visually appear but disapear the next second. In effect, a 1% constant effect dispell item is the same as magic immunity, the only down side is you can't cast on yourself, other constant effect item's spells are not affected.--Zar Pof 15:48, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

It might be that the dispel 1% is applied every tick, so that one to hundred chance happens quite often. This is just a guess, though.130.234.5.137 22:34, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Late response, but that is probably due to the Dispel bug that is corrected by Morrowind Code Patch. I have said patch applied and tested a 4% Dispel CE item and it didn't save me from a reflected God's Fire.101.103.0.67 18:13, 10 October 2013 (GMT)
Does that mean such an item would protect me from the magic damage done by Sunder or Keening as well? So it would work as a replacement for Wraithguard?--95.90.232.221 21:06, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
