The Chocolate Ascendant Lord was a chocolate sculpture of the Ascendant Lord villain from The Elder Scrolls Online, created by Belgian chocolate artist Oliver Van Nueten as commissioned by Bethesda for the release of High Isle.
The sculpture consists of a statue of the Ascendant Lord in his armor, as well as a detached greatsword, cast entirely out of edible chocolate. Upon commission by Bethesda themselves in May 2022,[1] it took Van Neuten over 150 hours of work to create the Ascendant Lord, spread out over many weeks. Aside from promotion on social media, Van Neuten said he was unclear what else the developers had planned for the statue, though he jokingly said that he hoped they'd resist the temptation of eating it.[2]
It made another appearance at the August 2022 ESO Tavern event in Cologne, Germany,[3] and was once again displayed at the ESO 10th anniversary event at the SugarFactory outside of Amsterdam, Netherlands from April 5-6, 2024.[4]
