Authorship

According to the revision history, the author parameter was filled out with "An anonymous Altmer" in 2009 (but that appears to be a template change; I assume it was added earlier somewhere?). Anyways, according to cslist, neither the Morrowind nor Skyrim versions of this book explicitly said that. However, the ESO version begins with "By An Anonymous Altmer". So where did we get "An anonymous Altmer"? Or, perhaps more to the point, why did the ESO version have this? Minor Edits^{Threats•Evidence} 00:08, 23 February 2014 (GMT)

The morrowind version says "The text was probably recorded by an Altmer, for it is written in Aldmeris". That's where it is likely from. Jeancey (talk) 00:14, 23 February 2014 (GMT)

I agree, but that means that someone here decided to improvise a name for the author parameter. And now almost identical language is actually appearing in a TES game. It seems to suggest that the UESP influenced an in-game text. I just found that interesting. Possibly noteworthy. TESWiki didn't even have a stub for this book until 2011, and The Imperial Library still lists the author as "Anonymous". So, while it's possible these were independent adaptions, it certainly seems to me at the moment that one influenced the other. Minor Edits^{Threats•Evidence} 00:29, 23 February 2014 (GMT)

It seems likely that we influenced them, but I don't find it surprising in any way. It took them 6-8 months of development before they had created a map of Tamriel in house. Prior to that, they were using the map on UESP for all their geographical questions. It isn't really a secret that they use us (as Alfwyn pointed out, several of the new books are basically just summaries of our lore pages). Jeancey (talk) 00:34, 23 February 2014 (GMT)

Is Leftunch an anagram of Nchuleft?
