Shield-Brother Terr was an Atmoran warrior and a member of the original Five Hundred Companions. Along with his twin brother Tysnal, they were part of the crew of Jorrvaskr and loyal followers of Jeek of the River. He was one of many grand warriors recorded in the Songs of the Return.[1]
History[edit]
Little is known about Terr's life beyond what is recorded in the Songs of the Return. He was the twin of Tynsal, but unlike his brother, Terr was noted for his considerable girth, though none dared mention it to his face. Terr was a close friend of Ysgramor. He was one of the twenty-two other such warriors who crewed the Jorrvaskr. They were led by Jeek of the River, who was himself counted among the twenty-two. When Ysgramor called upon his followers to venture south, Terr answered without hesitation. He renewed the Oath of the Companions and ventured toward Mereth under Jeek's command. Among Jeek's chosen warriors, Terr was counted among the fiercest.[1]
In Mereth, they clashed with the Elves in numerous brutal battles. Terr stood not only beside his captain, Jeek of the River, and his twin brother, Tynsal, but also among many other Shield-Brothers and Shield-Sisters. These included Menro and Manwe, the shipwrights who had shaped the Jorrvaskr, Meksim the Walker, Brunl, who fought with his off-hand, Yust the Smiler, Jonder the Tiny, Kluwe, also known as Loate, and twelve others.[1]
Eventually, the group came upon a great stone monument in the shape of a bird, the site of Skyforge. Around it, the twenty-three warriors founded what would become the city of Whiterun.[1]
Notes[edit]
- The Five Hundred Mighty Companions or Thereabouts of Ysgramor the Returned lists a pair of warriors known as the Twins of New Teed, though it is unknown whether this refers to Terr and his brother Tynsal.[UOL 1]
