The Temple of Agamanus in Elsweyr

The Temple of Agamanus is a Khajiiti ruin located south of Corinthe, in the province of Elsweyr. It is dedicated to the eponymous Sphinx of Gazia, Agamanus,[1] and prior to its abandonment, the temple greeted pilgrims on their journey.[2]

History[edit]

At some point in the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, a faction of warrior-priests led by Sir Galandir took over the Temple of Agamanus and partook in rituals.[2] They later attacked the Mages Guild in Corinthe and took a tablet that they believed was sacred to their order. In actuality, the tablet held the key to decipher an Elder Scroll, one that could reveal the location of the Halls of Colossus. The Guild's loremaster, Turamane ap' Kolthis enlisted the help of the Eternal Champion, who needed to locate the halls for their fourth piece of the Staff of Chaos.[3] Sir Galandir left the temple and ordered his knights to guard it with their lives.[2] The Eternal Champion delved into the ruins and located the tablet in its depths. With it returned to the Mages Guild, the champion was able to locate the Halls of Colossus.[3]

Ever since the Eternal Champion defeated Jagar Tharn and ended the Imperial Simulacrum, Imperial-loyalists took pilgrimages across Tamriel to re-trace the champion's steps throughout their quest,[4] and sometimes stop at the Temple of Agamanus.

Notes[edit]

  • The name is spelled as "Agamamnus" at one point in the quest, which is presumably a misspelling.[1]
