Stony Basin is a region located in the hold of the Rift, which is a part of the province of Skyrim. It is the lowest point of the Rift, hence the name. The major settlement in the area is the township of Shor's Stone, which serves as an Ebony mine for the city-state of Riften. As you move westward, settlements become less abundant, the Fallowstone Hall was one of the oldest mead halls dedicated to the Companions, who used the Hall as their base in the Rift. In the western basin, the Vernim Woods populates the area, it houses some minor Nordic ruins and it had been targeted by the Reachmen. The Northwind Mine is situated on the mountains north of the Stony Basin and it has been a site of a successful mineshaft and a Word Wall.
