Ixtaxh Xanmeer (formally known as Ixtaxh-Thitithil-Meht, which translates into "Exact Egg-Cracker" in Jel)[1] is a sunken xanmeer ruin located on the coast of Murkmire, in the province of Black Marsh. It is a great stepped pyramid,[2]:35 said to be one of the most extensive stone-built sites in the region.[1] It is rumored that the ruins contains a plethora of jewelry and treasure, among these items of interest was the Kajin-Jat Crystal, a vakka stone that was used in rituals by the Ancient Argonians.[3]
Further Information[edit]
The Ixtaxh Xanmeer's architecture is intricately designed to be convoluted and haunting. For one the ruin's entry hall uses a bijum-style door release, where if you pull on the lever, it collapses the floor and into another room, but pushing on it opens the entrance.[3] The Ixtaxh Xanmeer has doors and staircases that seemingly go nowhere and stylized Argonian statues that look ghastly. There are also a series of traps, from the nigh bottomless pits to the fire traps, as well as creatures such as spiders and kotu gava.[4] The room that contains the Kajin-Jat Crystal is hidden in the furnace room's pit and rigged so that a gigantic voriplasm would be released if the crystal was removed. If the creature is defeated, poison gas fills the entire dungeon.[5]
History[edit]
Ixtaxh Xanmeer and many others were built in the Days of Stone Nests, known by historians as pre-Duskfall. The Ancient Argonians of Ixtaxh utilized the vakka stone known as the Kajin-Jat for rituals, but what those rituals entailed are currently unknown.[3] Ever since Duskfall took place, the Ixtaxh Xanmeer had fallen into severe disrepair and its exterior was eventually swallowed by the marsh of coastal Murkmire. Explorers have traveled to the xanmeer in the hopes of recovering treasure, ideally the Kajin-Jat Crystal, but have died in their vain attempt.[4]
Sometime in 2E 582, the Cyrodilic Collections disembarked on a quest for the Kajin-Jat Crystal in the Ixtaxh Xanmeer. With their motley crew of explorers from Lilmoth, the group delved into the dungeon and were separated by the trap in the entry hall. After they reunited, the group navigated through the dungeon until they reached the furnace room and eventually, the Kajin-Jat Vault. Once they acquired the crystal however, each of the dungeon's traps were activated and the group made a narrow escape through the Ixtaxh Egress. The Kajin-Jat Crystal was promptly take to safety in the Cyrodilic Collections headquarters in Lilmoth.[6]
Over the years, the xanmeer slowly sank into the marsh and it became completely submerged in water. By the early Fourth Era, the Ixtaxh pyramid had been excavated by the An-Xileel that occupied Lilmoth. From the topmost chamber, they pumped out water and used magicka to keep it from running back in.[2]:35

Notes[edit]
- An old draft of the Monomyth claims that the Hist's name for Sithis was Ixtaxh-thtithil-meht,[UOL 1] a practically identical name to the xanmeer save for the missing "i" in thtithil.
