Split / Rename[edit]

I don't think renaming the page is the right idea. I'd split it up rather than cram what seems to be two different types of information on the same page. DF:Poison, perhaps? –RpehTCE 01:20, 30 September 2008 (EDT)

I agree. — Unsigned comment by 86.18.101.106 (talk) at 19:19 on 1 December 2008
Perhaps we could call it "Daggerfall: Afflictions" or "Daggerfall: Maladies"? TheEnigmaticMan 20:34, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
It should be split, and maybe the Poisoning could be expanded. Linara/Nell 20:32, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
This should definitely be split. Although this discussion hasn't been very active, the consensus seems to be supported. If no one has any objections, I'll move the poison section to a new page. Legoless 10:32, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I've split the page. Info on poisoning can now be found at Daggerfall:Poison. Legoless 16:19, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Severity of each illness is unclear[edit]

Hi all,

I feel like this article oversells how severe a lot of diseases are. I have multiple times realized that I have some disease or another, and just finished the dungeon rather than immediately rushing to a Temple, and I am fine, even at level 3-4. I did this once for a long time with Yellow Fever, because I was trapped in a complicated teleporter and level dungeon. Despite resting 10-20 times in the dungeon and leveling up twice, I was still able to get to a Temple with plenty of stats to spare. I am sure that some diseases are a death sentence, but I have gotten Yellow Fever, Blood Rot, and Brain Fever and was even poisoned alongside one of them for quite a few rests. This was all in DFU, but I do not have any balance mods installed.

I would suggest either rewording the paragraph which discusses severity to emphasize that the lethality of the diseases varies wildly, or add a column to the table which describes how lethal the disease actually is. I am happy to add the column blank and add notes as I encounter the diseases, but I am a new player so I am not sure how to account for my specific character's stats and gear in my experience, and I am not a serious wiki editor and don't want to create more noise than signal by adding the wrong kind of information. 108.62.52.162 22:18, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

I will add this to the page, but your characters stats are a key component of how quickly one dies of a disease: it is when the given stat hits 0 that you die (Str/End etc).

Things to add before "finishing" article[edit]

based on the page for skyrim's s diseases (heres the link), i have a few ideas of what needs to be added before this article is up to standard

  • more exact readings of how each disease drops attributes (ex: 5 strength per in-game day)
  • which creatures cause each disease
  • notes on natural racial resistances to disease
  • notes on known bugs
