Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

A Wolf in the Fold[edit]

Speak to the quest giver, who says:

"As a matter of fact, we could doubtlessly use someone like you. There's a desecrated temple nearby called (dungeon). You may have heard of it. For some time, it has been a home to evil, but we have ignored its influence. It is a counterbalance to other forces, after all. Now the balance has been upset. I need someone to right it. Sound like something you could help with?"

or

"The Balance in (dungeon) has been unbound by a new intrusion that threatens our efforts at bringing harmony to (region). We need a champion, someone like you, to set (dungeon) to right. Will you do it?"

Accept[edit]

The quest giver goes on:

"Excellent, (player's first name). What we need is to have a certain powerful lycanthrope who has established its lair in that unholy (dungeon) slain. It is threatening the expansion of our order in that area. If you are not back here after (time limit) days have passed, we will move against it ourselves, and your reward will be forfeit. Obviously, you had best be on your way. Fare thee well and best of luck."

or

"(Oath), that's good, (player's first name). Now, there are but (time limit) days we can give you to restore equilibrium in (dungeon), and the fastest, most appropriate way we know of is for you to slay the lycanthrope who has made its foul nest in (dungeon)'s bowels. Pray hurry, (player's first name). If you are not here when (time limit) suns have set, your reward with be forfeit."

Decline[edit]

The quest giver answers:

"Disappointing. Well, we'll find someone else doubtlessly."

Restoring Equilibrium[edit]

This quest is a typical dungeon crawl; head to the dungeon named by the quest giver and enter it. Find the lycanthrope, either a wereboar or a werewolf, within. There may be multiple creatures of these types, but you must slay the target creature for the quest to count as a success. When the target creature dies, you receive a notification:

You have slain the lycanthrope of (dungeon).

Return to the quest giver after the lycanthrope is slain to collect your reward.

Reward[edit]

When you report back after the lycanthrope has been killed, the quest giver will say:

"You have done a great service to the Temple of Arkay, (player's first name). One that will not be forgotten. Enjoy your (random gold) gold -- you certainly deserve it."

Additional Dialogue[edit]

After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "I've heard there's some kind of werewolf on the loose around here."
  • "I hear the wereboar's found a lair in someplace called (dungeon)."
  • "Didja hear that howling last night? Wolf howling?"

If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "Lupines are real nomads, I guess. I hear our loup moved down south."
  • "My cousin tells me that our wereboar was spotted down south aways."

If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "I hear they found out that werewolf was a priest during the day!"
  • "A lot of people feel safer knowing that wereboar is dead."
  • "You heard about that werecreature some (player's race) hunted down?"

If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:

  • "How may I assist thee who restored the balance within (dungeon)?"

If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:

  • "You failed to slay that lupine, (player's first name). I am sorely aggrieved."
