Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Cheating a mage is never a good idea.

A Mage's Revenge[edit]

Speak to the Fighter Quester, who says:

"A certain merchant needs to have a monster, a gargoyle to be precise, dispatched. The pay is a modest (random gold) gold pieces. Can I have your help in this matter?"

Accept[edit]

The Fighter Quester goes on:

"It seems this merchant hired a wizard to build him a grand mansion. Then the poor fool tried to cheat the mage of his wages. The wizard grew angry and animated one of the stone gargoyles on the new mansion. It has been attacking the merchant ceaselessly. Go out to (dungeon) and kill the thing. You've got (time limit) days to complete the task."

Decline[edit]

The Fighter Quester answers:

"Hmmm. Not the brave, heroic sort I guess."

Blood from Stone[edit]

This quest is a standard dungeon crawl. Travel to the dungeon the Fighter Quester mentioned, find the gargoyle within, and kill it. You will need mithril weapons or better to damage it. When the gargoyle has been killed, the following message will appear:

The gargoyle is dead. Hopefully that foolish merchant has learned never to cheat a mage.

Reward[edit]

Return to the Fighter Quester after killing the gargoyle and he will say:

"Hail to the hero, (player's name)! Well done! This paltry fee of (random gold) is hardly a worthy reward for such a deed."

There is a 50% chance the Fighter Quester will also give you a dungeon map, adding:

"Maybe this map to (random dungeon) will sweeten the deal a little."
