Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Rodent Problems[edit]

The Fighter Quester says:

"My name is (Fighter Quester's name). We only give jobs to guild members. However, from time to time there are jobs that are too menial for fighters of the guild to accept. I have one such job. If you take it, it will show that you really want to be on our good side. What do you say?"

Accept[edit]

The Fighter Quester goes on:

"Giant rats have infested (building name). There may be as many as half a dozen of them. Go there and kill them all and I'll see what strings I can pull on your behalf. I can only give you one day."

Decline[edit]

The Fighter Quester answers:

"Obviously you have no love for the Fighter's Guild. I will make sure to tell them what you really think."

Rats in the Walls[edit]

The rats of the Iliac Bay grow quite large

This quest is similar to the members-only quest Hunt for Giant Rodents, but the targets are always rats in this one. Head to the building in town and kill all rats that appear. At every five in-game minutes there is a 75% chance that one rat will appear; there can be a maximum of seven rats altogether. However, you will get no notification after you have killed all the rats that appear. This task must be done within a day, so return to the Fighter Quester promptly afterwards.

Reward[edit]

Upon returning after you cleaned the building, the Fighter Quester will say:

"Killing rats, even giant ones, doesn't take much skill. It does put you in favor with us though. Good work."

Reputation Gain/Loss[edit]

A successfully completed quest results in a reputation gain according to the table below.

Faction/Person Reputation Gain
Fighters Guild +5
Fighter Questers +5
Associated factions +2

A failed quest results in a reputation loss according to the table below.

Faction/Person Reputation Gain
Fighters Guild -2
Fighter Questers -2
Associated factions -1

(Allies/Enemies affiliations for listed factions are not considered in the tables.)

Enemies[edit]

  • 7x One Rat every five in-game minutes (75% chance)

Bugs[edit]

  • As with the other three Fighters Guild non-member quests, the questfile includes a dialogue that should display when the building has been cleared of monsters, but this does not appear in-game.

Additional Dialogue[edit]

After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "Some idiot bought four barrels of cheese. Now he's got giant rats in his house."

If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "Some woman had to abandon her home. It was overrun with giant rats and she didn't have enough gold to pay the Fighters Guild to kill them."

If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:

  • "I heard the Fighters Guild sent some (player's race) over to kill the rats in that woman's home. They didn't even charge her for it."

If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:

  • "So you killed the rats. Don't get too full of yourself. They were only rats."

If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:

  • "You couldn't even take care of giant rats. You are hopeless (player's name)."
