Fer on the deck of the Slough Queen

Fer is a young Argonian merchant who lives and works aboard the Slough Queen, a ship moored in the Bravil Docks. His father, Captain Fens, is trying to train Fer to take over when he retires.

Fer starts his day by waking at 7am and eating breakfast for two hours. He wanders about the ship, chatting with the crew, until noon, then goes to the captain's cabin to receive lessons from his father. At 4pm, he returns to wandering about the ship until 8pm, when he eats dinner with the crew. At 10pm, he does paperwork at the desk in his cabin for two hours, then goes to bed at midnight.

Fer wears a sailor's shirt and britches, and leather boots; he carries a steel cutlass, the key to his cabin, a wedge of cheese, and some salted meat.

As the captain's son, Fer rates a full cabin for himself. He doesn't have much there - a bed, washstand, and a small table he uses as a desk, which holds his few possessions.

Just as Fens despairs of his son ever learning the trade, Fer is becoming increasingly disillusioned: "Ugh, I have had just about enough of my father's constant barrage of criticism..." If you ask why, he replies: "He wants me to take up his position of captain when he retires, but he doesn't think I'm up to it... All he does is point out my flaws, and then barks at me about them... If he thinks I'm so useless, why doesn't he just give up, and let me get on with my life?"
