General Improvements[edit]

Having recently started a Survival Mode playthrough myself (on Switch version), I can add some details from direct observation:

  • "Indoors" apparently means any indoor zone (dungeon/cave/etc). For example, using bed rolls found in places ranging from Embershard Mine to Nchuand-Zel provided a useful way to restore Fatigue levels without needing a (potentially lengthy) trip back to the nearest town.

And here are some matters in need of research:

  • What exactly is the reduction to Total Magicka (if any) at higher Fatigue levels? For example, when I acquired the spell for Bound Bow I was initially unable to cast it due to (at the time) 159 cost vs. total 150 Magicka. But one level-up later, I was able to cast it for ~149 cost vs. total 160 Magicka even with fatigue. As an experiment, I overencumbered myself and waited (not rested) until my Fatigue was declared "Debilitating" (Magicka meter reduced by 80%), yet I was still able to cast Bound Bow. Even with my Magicka bar 100% reduced, I was still able to cast Bound Bow once (and have 10 Magicka left over).

So what is the precise explanation here? Did I encounter some bug/oversight in the design of Survival Mode (possibly for the Switch version specifically), or is the description of Fatigue levels merely incorrect? I've already noticed that the Health, Magicka, and Stamina values shown on the Skills screen do not seem to reflect your current Warmth/Fatigue/Hunger levels (though they include other active effects e.g. enchantments/diseases)... 63.225.84.238 20:17, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
