Repurpose?[edit]

Given that the content on this page is now deprecated, the page title could be used to list the Group Events that occur in Public Dungeons. These are especially relevant now given that the Mages Guild daily quests now direct you to these locations. And they are all officially called "Group Events" in their respective achievements. Seems like it'd makes sense, just not sure what to do with the old deprecated content... — TheRealLurlock (talk) 17:45, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Are they called Group Events now? They used to be called Group Challenges. The stuff that's here could easily be moved to Adventure Zones, since these events were just a subsection of that class of zone, and fall under the same deprecation. We could repurpose this page, but perhaps it would be better to detail those Group Events on the Public Dungeon page, since they are a subsection of Public Dungeons, and have this page as a disambig. That also keeps with the idea of having as few separate pages as possible for ESO content. --Enodoc (talk) 18:24, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
They at least are in the achievements. With the exception of Village of the Lost, they all call them "Group Events", including the Orsinium ones. So I'd say yes. I'm not sure if "Group Challenge" is used anywhere anymore with that one exception. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 18:39, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Could just add an {{about}} link to the top of this page pointing towards the Public Dungeons list. —Legoless (talk) 19:00, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
Since "Group Event" is the official name of only the Public Dungeon events, that must take precedence over usage of the name as a label we came up with for the Craglorn events. But the fact that the label was in common usage for Craglorn is important too, so I think the safest option is the disambig route. That way, whether you're looking for Group Events as a component of Public Dungeons, or as a component of Adventure Zones, you'll definitely be in the right place, because the info would be right there on the respective page. --Enodoc (talk) 23:30, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
So how about this: We make this page a list of all the Public Dungeon Events, move the current contents over to Adventure Zones, possibly hidden in a "Deprecated" section (although the whole concept of Adventure Zones is already deprecated and that page is marked as such, so that may be unnecessary), and then put an About tag on this page directing people to Adventure Zones if that's what they're looking for. We should also do a sweep for anything that links here and change them to point to Adventure Zones if appropriate. — TheRealLurlock (talk) 00:34, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
Seems okay to me. —Legoless (talk) 09:41, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
That would work, but to me that seems like unnecessarily splitting up an aspect of Public Dungeons, which would make more sense being detailed on the Public Dungeons page. --Enodoc (talk) 10:33, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

() The events are already detailed (for the most part) on the achievement pages. This would only be a list page, useful as a place to link from the Mages Guild daily quest or pages like With Butterflies A-Retching. The Public Dungeons page is just a list of the locations themselves, not the events. To use that when all you care about is the events, you'd have to click each dungeon individually to get the information - this would list the events all in one place, which is much more convenient. (Especially for people who might like to have the list up on a second monitor and not want to scroll or click links to see all the relevant information, or even print it out - some people still do that, right?). — TheRealLurlock (talk) 15:49, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

What I meant was, tweak the Public Dungeons list so that it is a list of the dungeons and the events. I'm not sure what you're envisaging this list looking like, but I can see something like this using the existing Public Dungeons page:
Auridon
Grahtwood
--Enodoc (talk) 16:32, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
I'm not sure we really want to clutter up a locations list page like that, since the Group Events are not specifically locations. They take place at a location, but that's different. Note that if repurposed, this would no longer be a Place page at all. I'd think a table layout like:
Zone Dungeon Event Description
Aldmeri Dominion
Auridon Toothmaul Gully Toothmaul Gully Group Event Destroy Bloodroot and its guardians at Toothmaul Gully.
Grahtwood Root Sunder Ruins Root Sunder Group Event Destroy the Bonemonger and its captors in Root Sunder Ruins.

Ah okay, the table layout looks good. We could still do that directly on the Public Dungeons page though, taking a leaf out of the Group Dungeons book. And we could then include the dungeon Champions directly in the table as well. --Enodoc (talk) 21:31, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
