Completed Mages Guild questline:
"You look a bit lost, friend. Can I help you find a book?"
I'm looking for a mage named Adeber. Do you know where he is?
"I know a great many mages. The person I don't know, of course, is you. Why are you asking about Adeber?"
Bonafryd sent me to warn him. His life may be in danger.
"Ah, greetings, Adept! Everyone recognizes the guild associate who matched wits with the Mad God. What can I do for you?"
I'm looking for a mage named Adeber. Bonafryd sent me to warn him. His life may be in danger.

"Bonafryd? The near-sighted scryer? What's she-? Never mind.
Adeber left just a moment ago. Said he needed some quiet. He usually goes to the courtyard behind the guild hall when he needs some time alone. Is he going to be all right?"
I hope so. Someone has been killing his associates in the Order of the Eye.
"You're serious, aren't you? Mara protect us! I'll gather up the other initiates and alert the magister at once!
Please, just find Adeber and bring him back safe. We'll do all we can to protect him."
I'll find him.

He will be irate if you talk to him again before heading out,

"Why are you still standing here? Adeber's in danger!"

Once you've located the unfortunate mage and have returned to him,

"You're back! Good.
Our magus erected a powerful ward on the door and... wait. I know that expression. You bring grim tidings, don't you? Adeber is dead."
He is. I'm sorry.
"The Eight damn whoever did this to him! He was so sweet - such a quiet and gentle soul. Always there with a timid smile and a kind word. Who could-?
Thank you for letting me know. We'll see to it that he's laid to rest. Just warn the others."

Speak to him before you leave and he'll add:

"Poor Adeber. I knew something was troubling him … if only I'd spoken to him about it!
Excuse me, I just need a moment."
