South Seas[edit]

Is there a name for the Southern Seas in Tamriel, the body of water from the Summerset Isles to Black Marsh. Like how the northern sea is the Sea of Ghosts and the western sea is the Abecean Sea. I know in the Infernal City, they call it the Southern Waters but that's like calling the Sea of Ghosts, the Northern Waters. Is there any source giving it a name? --Vincentius1 (talk) 15:08, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

The Padomaic Ocean is described as encompasses all of mainland Tamriel. Unless a body of water surrounding Tamriel has a specific given name (Eltheric Ocean, Sea of Ghosts), the waters seems to default to the Padomaic Ocean. --Jimeee (talk) 15:43, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Size[edit]

The Morrowind section of the first Pocket Guide to the Empire gives the distance between the peak of Dagoth Ur and Mournhold/Almalexia as 250 miles. Applying this scale to the map included with The Elder Scrolls Anthology puts the distance between Daggerfall to Necrorom (and the approximate width of Tamriel itself) at (by my measure) roughly 1125 miles (roughly the western edge of France to the eastern edge of Slovakia, or half the continental US). 1: Can anyone confirm I did the math right? 2: Is this sufficient to mention on the page proper? --Agiletek (talk) 17:25, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Proposal for Governments section[edit]

I believe there should be a Governments section below the provinces section, detailing just current government bodies in the Fourth Era. For example it should probably look like this:

Third Empire[edit]

The Third Empire was declared by Tiber Septim in 2E 854 after the chaos of the Interregnum, and was forged through a decades-long conflict to unite Tamriel known as the Tiber War. It lasted throughout the whole of the Third Era and two centuries into the Fourth Era, when it began to decline. As of 4E 201, Skyrim is in a state of civil war and, while nominally still part of the Empire, its future status is uncertain.

Aldmeri Dominion[edit]

The Aldmeri Dominion, known also as the Third Aldmeri Dominion, is a powerful union. The Dominion's ruling body, is the Thalmor.

An-Xileel[edit]

The An-Xileel are a political party in Black Marsh formed sometime during the Oblivion Crisis, consisting primarily, if not entirely, of Argonians. They supported Black Marsh's independence from the Empire and were said to spread anti-Imperial propaganda, capturing prisoners of war. Many Argonians firmly held the belief that the An-Xileel were the sole reason that Mehrunes Dagon failed to conquer Black Marsh during the Oblivion Crisis.

According to the Imperial perspective, the An-Xileel "were entirely nativistic in their views, interested only in purging the former colonial influences" and returning Black Marsh to the way it was prior to Duskfall, or at least how they imagined it had been in before it was ruled by foreign powers. They refer to Argonians who have been living under Imperial ways as "Lukiul", or "Assimilated". The few non-Argonians that work for them are poorly paid advisors. Many of those who have dealt with the An-Xileel view them as being uniformly rude and arrogant.

The exact structure of the An-Xileel is unknown, but they were known to have had an Archwarden by the name of Qajalil in 4E 48, and were led by The Organism, the ruling council based in Lilmoth.

Great Houses[edit]

In modern times, Morrowind is ruled by the Grand Council of five Great Houses: House Redoran, House Telvanni, House Sadras, House Indoril, and House Dres, presided over by the Lord High Councilor.

This is just an example and more info will be added to those sections for the actual article. --KevinM(talk) 20:40, 8 May 2024 (UTC)

Isn't this more or less covered by the Lore:Empires article? Or are you instead just wanting to make a section just for current governments? The Rim of the Sky (talk) 22:50, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
just current governments. I created a better example in my sandbox. Is it okay to create a Governments section to begin with. Also, Is there any current governments that are missing in my sandbox and what other improvements do you think need to be made? --KevinM(talk) 23:48, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
I'm not super familiar with the current governments, but I think your sandbox is missing the Crowns and Forebears power struggle in Hammerfell after defeating the AD, as well as the Kingdoms of Wayrest (sacked by corsairs, I think), Daggerfall, Northpoint, Evermore, and Camlorn in High Rock. Orsinium has also been rebuilt between Skyrim and Hammerfell. BananaKing5 (talk) 06:19, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
Yes I think Kingdom of Hammerfell could be listed to solve that. Stormcloaks could also be put in. Also, its unknown if the An-Xileel even exist after the events of Lord of Souls, and Black Marsh has a king by Skyrim, so Kingdom of Black Marsh might be better. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 06:31, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
I have done what you suggested and made a few alterations. Any other improvements need to be made (adding or removing info) just let me know, but I also wouldn't mind a little help in my sandbox from other editors as well. --KevinM(talk) 07:14, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
Okay, I have added the info to the article. If there are any current governments that are missing, please feel free to add that info. I hope other editors take the initiatives and help add or fix the info if need be --KevinM(talk) 18:02, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

() One question: is Rimmen still an independent nation by the time of Skyrim or because that info is unknown should it not be added to the section? --KevinM(talk) 22:56, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

I don't think the above is suitable for a general article about Tamriel. The continent has had many governments across all the ages. I would suggest instead creating an article titled "Tamriel in the Fourth Era" (or something similar) if you want to provide a view of the topic in a given time period. —Legoless (talk) 16:20, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
I second Legoless. This info doesn't belong here. Mindtrait0r (talk) 22:00, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
Yeah the more I think about it I support that idea. I created that section so i guess I'll take it down --KevinM(talk) 00:35, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
I think it's a great idea and the text could definitely be used elsewhere. —Legoless (talk) 00:17, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
