Valsirenn was high ranking Psijic monk and member of the Conclave of the Eleven Forces.[1] She was instrumental in stopping the Daedric invasion of Summerset and dispatching the Abyssal Cabal.[2] Following the death of Iachesis in 2E 582 she took the position of interim Ritemaster and became the temporary leader of the Psijic Order, a long-standing monastic group of mages dedicated to studying the Old Ways.[3]

History[edit]

Early Life[edit]

At some point before 2E 282 in the early Second Era very young Valsirenn joined the Psijic Order after being personally recognized by Ritemaster Iachesis. As of then Artaeum was still one of isles in the Summerset Archipelago. She married fellow Psijic initiate Leythen and they started a family together.[1] At some point she gave birth to their daughter Ealdaawe. Ealdaawe died in infancy due to unknown illness. Soon afterwards Leythen abandoned Psijic Order during his field mission.[4]

She eventually became full-fledged monk. She was known as curious teacher, scholar devoted to arcane research and one of the Psijic Order's experts on mysticism and esoteric knowledge.[1]

The Daedric War[edit]

Soon after Queen Ayrenn opened borders of the Summerset Isle in 2E 582 Valsirenn was sent by the Ritemaster Iachesis to investigate a warning from Sotha Sil about Daedric plot involving Summerset.[5] She also tried to locate her husband's current whereabouts. Her investigation led her to the Monastery of Serene Harmony in Shimmerene. She joined forces with The Vestige and Razum-dar. They uncovered the signs of Daedric worship and cruel treatment of the newcomers in the monastery grounds and found out the Abyssal Pearl in the monk's quarters. It was sent to Artaeum for further investigation. After Aldarch of the Monastery who turned out to be member of the Court of Bedlam was dispatched by the Vestige she bestowed them an invitation to the Artaeum.[6]

To continue her investigation, Valsirenn traveled to the large sinkhole that had recently opened up near Rellenthil. It was caused by Sea Sload K'Tora, who in collaboration with the Daedra-worshipping Court of Bedlam, had created the uncommon phenomena in the firm and unchanging foundations of Summerset Isle. Valsirenn, with help from the Vestige, managed to stabilize the walls to prevent them from crumbling down and the sinkhole from growing deeper and wider.[7][8]

Soon afterwards, K'Tora invaded Artaeum and captured Ritemaster Iachesis. T'Kora attempted to extract the Ritemaster's deepest memories using the Orbs of B'Raken Drel, but his plan was foiled when Valsirenn with the aid of Vestige retrieved the staff from the Psijic Relic Vaults and used it to breach K'Tora's mind barrier and kill him.[9][10]

Valsirenn exploring the Spiral Skein

Valsirenn was tasked with warning the sages of College of Sapiarchs about the threat to the Crystal Tower. When she and the Vestige arrived to the College's grounds in Lilandril they found out that the Sapiarchs were under attack. They assisted in saving the College from Daedric threat. After a short and aggressive confrontation, Valsirenn found out that her long lost husband was worshipper of Mephala and responsible for the attack.[4] She took Leythen back to Artaeum where he was briefly imprisoned.[11]

She ventured to the Spiral Skein together with the Vestige on behalf of Daedric Prince Meridia to rescue her champion Darien Gautier from clutches of Mephala. They succeeded and returned to Artaeum.[11]

Once Ritemaster Iachesis regained his lost memories Valsirenn, together with the Vestige and Meridia's champion Darien Gautier ventured to Evergloam, where the group attempted to learn where Iachesis had hidden the Heart of Transparent Law. When they reached the ritual site and learned that the Heart was inside Iachesis' body, Mephala and Clavicus Vile appeared and tried to retrieve the crystal. They were interrupted by Nocturnal, who betrayed them, banished them from her realm, and tore the Heart from Iachesis' body, killing him.[12]

Soon after the death of the Ritemaster Iachesis she traveled to the gates of Crystal Tower to oversee Sapiarch's attunement ritual. During the process the Nocturnal forces launched an attack at the scholars. Despite her efforts two Sapiarchs responsible for the ritual were killed. The Psijic Order reluctantly decided to strike a bargain with Mephala and Clavicus Vile in order to stop Nocturnal from gaining control of the Crystal Tower.[13]

Valsirenn together with her fellow Psijic monk Oriandra and Sotha Sil stayed at Artaeum in order to maintain the connection between the Psijics and the volunteers who ventured to Crystal Tower to fight against Nocturnal. Vestige accompanied by Darien Gautier and her husband Leythen entered the Crystal Tower and managed to stop Nocturnal from using the Heart of Transparent Law, gaining control of the Crystal Tower and using it's power to spread her influence to every possible reality. However only the Vestige returned from this mission alive. Valsirenn entered the Tower to ensure their safe return to the Artaeum.[14]

Soon after the threat was ended Valsirenn, together with the Vestige, Proxy Queen Alwinarwe and a group of Summerset citizens convinced the leader of Sapiarchs to gather allies in order to defend the Crystal-Like-Law [15] and became the temporary Ritemaster of the Psijic Order [3] honoring the dying wish of previous Ritemaster Iachesis.[16]

Deadlands[edit]

At some point during 2E 582 Valsirenn was studying Eleventh Force, Change inside the Burn in Deadlands but winded up in synchroseisiac state and lost attunement with reality. Thanks to the assistance of the Vestige and guidance of Daedric sage Rrvenk she managed to overcome this issue and regain her lost attunement. [17] She studied under sage Rvenk for short amount of time and attended the celebrations in Fargrave after the realm was saved by the Vestige.[18] She was also present during Eveli Sharp-Arrow's speech in Leyawiin Castle after the threat from the Deadlands was eliminated.[19]

Legacy[edit]

Artaeum returned to Tamriel circa 2E 730, with it now public knowledge that Iachesis no longer led the order, but the Psijics would not offer any explanation as to where the Isle had gone or of Iachesis' demise.[20] The position of the leader of Psijic Order was taken by Celarus at some point before 3E 110.[20][21]
