Image Clarity[edit]

Due to Solstheim being, well, Solstheim, the amount of dust and ash in the air makes aerial shots very difficult. The original version of this image shows this, and it seems that the only other option was darkening the shot as per the second version.

I used fw 81a to clear the weather and make it sunny, and have a good shot of Nchardak similar to these two, but I feel that it won't be as reflective as the actual place because the entire atmosphere is different from what it will ever look like there. That file is here in my dropbox: [1]

Anyone else have input on this as to what we should do? Or should we just use the cleared weather version? — Unsigned comment by GodRaine (talkcontribs) at 23:39 on 27 July 2013‎

The usage of the Clear Skies shout is preferred. It probably won't be all that different from the forced code changed. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:46, 27 July 2013 (GMT)
I just tested that out - definitely not something I thought of and unfortunately it didn't work. The general haziness around the structure remains. Any other ideas? Thanks for the suggestion :) GodRaineTalk 23:50, 27 July 2013 (GMT)
Perhaps a higher graphics setting might improve the clarity of the image? The current one seems rather low. —Legoless (talk) 02:50, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
I just threw my settings on Ultra and took the screenshot again. It looks identical to Version 1 of this image in that there is a great deal of ash / smog in the air that obscures the structure from an aerial view. If anyone wants to see that screenshot, I'll upload it; otherwise I'll keep it off the wiki to avoid confusion / duplication. Anyone else? Thanks Legoless for your help, I didn't think of that either. :) GodRaineTalk 03:15, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
An observation: User:Dreamshadow in their Version 2 image does appear to have removed the ash from the air, despite their image being too dark. I'm intrigued as to how they did this. Does Solstheim have weather codes? What are they? Having information on Solstheim's weather codes might help us achieve the result we're looking for while still retaining the atmospheric qualities of the island. Feel free to upload your screenshot, either here or as a new file. —Legoless (talk) 03:51, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
Uploaded here. Let me know what you think and if we can approach this issue from any other angles. Thanks! GodRaineTalk 04:23, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
I think this is as good as it's gonna get, looks much better now. Just needs to be cropped to a 4:3 ratio. —Legoless (talk) 19:31, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
Hey, look at that! I went back to Nchardak to get a cropped aspect ratio, used set timescale 4000 to move it to a more daylight time, and poof - the dust went away! This seemed to happen at random; it would appear that the dust would only leave momentarily because the game is laboring so hard to catch up to such fast-changing daylight / nighttime patterns. Either way, I got a much clearer shot! Problem solved. :) GodRaineTalk 19:53, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
