Size Comparison[edit]

I always thought that the current picture was a rather poor size comparison - the distance between the character and the giant Mudcrab is too great to give you any idea of just how large the Mudcrab is. So I went and took this screenshot for a better comparison and figured I'd put it up. (I wanted to use this one, as it's much less blurry, but it's 111kb and I don't know if that's too large.) Anyway, my last attempt failed for some reason when the image didn't transfer over to the thumbnail on the Interesting Places page. I also realized that the picture is used on the Animals page, but I'd be willing to also get another screenshot of the giant Mudcrab that only shows the Mudcrab and not the player (though there's a picture like that used on the Greenmead Cave page that seems like it'd be better than this one). So, are there any objections? And, uh, if not, then can someone either tell me how to get the links to work properly or do it themselves, as I obviously don't know what's wrong (it had the same name, was on the same page, yet the thumbnails kept using the old version). --NightStryke 12:19, 4 May 2008 (EDT)

I agree that the current image does a poor job of really allowing the sizes to be compared. ideally a bit more contrast might be nice in your image (the mudcrab blends into the walls in a few places), but it's still better than the existing image -- for both the Interesting Places and Animals pages. I'd say upload the full-size version; we generally use full resolution images especially given that the wiki then creates thumbnails for use on the articles. Probably all that was happening with your previous upload is that you needed to do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) to force your browser to obtain the new version of the thumbnail. Worst case is it might take a day for everything to update given various limits of our multi-layered caching system. But the thumbnails will all update automatically, even if it takes some time to propagate. --NepheleTalk 13:49, 4 May 2008 (EDT)
