Morrowind[edit]

I was curious if you knew of a remake of the TES game Morrowind and its expansions that harnesses a higher level engine IE Gamebyro, Havok, and SpeedTree of Oblivion or the Creation engine of Skyrim? To be honest, if you do I'll probably never play another installment of TES as Morrowind is my complete favorite.Chronic 22:04, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

If there is, I haven't heard of it. There are numerous hi-res texture and model packages that can give Morrowind a more modern look. Things like Havok and the like are not really possible though. It's possible Bethesda might release the engine to the public in a few years - they've already released Arena and Daggerfall, so Morrowind would be the next logical step. Though I think this would probably include only the games themselves, and not the source, so you couldn't do much with them that you can't already do with the MW construction kit. As for remakes in the Oblivion/Skyrim engine, there might be people doing it, but it's kind of against the terms of service to do that sort of thing - a cease-and-desist was already brought out against the Middle Earth mod team for just that. Closest you can get is the Tamriel Rebuilt project, though that's kind of the opposite - just adding more content with the same engine. --TheRealLurlock Talk 03:47, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for giving my such a detailed response to my question. I'll have to look into the texture and model packages. I recently became aware of what a PC version of these games had to offer versus a console game, which I used to play the latest three installments. I may have to look into purchasing the games for the PC just to see what they are capable of, which I can only assume is ones imagination and coding ability at this point.Chronic 00:30, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Categories[edit]

Per your recent editions of the category Category:Skyrim-Interior Images to several of the word wall images: is it really appropriate to add that to images of the one at Lost Valley Redoubt, Ysgramor's Tomb, and Ancient's Ascent as they are all exterior locations? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:07, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Hmm. Sorry, they all looked like interiors. (That's what I get for trying to work in Skyrim namespace without owning the game yet.) Actually, I'm thinking they shouldn't be in Interior Images OR Place Images, since that's not really what they're about. Just keep them in the Word Walls category and nothing else. I'm trying to clean up and standardize the naming of images. For example, in Category:Skyrim-Ingredient_Images, we've got images labeled as "ingredient", "ingr", "item", "flora", and "object". That gets really confusing. I'd separate it into just two, "ingredient" and "flora", and move the flora pictures into a Flora Images category, using "flora" for pictures of the plants found in the wild and "ingredient" for what the item looks like by itself. Other items should be broken up as well, into "weapon", "armor", "clothing", etc. I'd only use "item" for images where nothing else fits. Anyhow, I'll fix those Word Wall images, and maybe a larger reorganization can be done later. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:04, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
