LOL[edit]

We need a Like button for edit summaries. ;) Robin Hoodtalk 00:48, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I don't remember if you were around back then, but the story is that I created that page just for the heck of it, and needed some small image to put in there. I told everyone it was going to be temporary until we found a better sample image to use, but everyone liked it so much they wouldn't let me change it. And now, years later, as I'm sifting through the Oblivion-Icons category, I just saw how many User pages were using those two heart images and was surprised at the monster I'd created... --TheRealLurlock Talk 04:43, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
I was around, technically, but I certainly wasn't involved enough in the wiki at that point to have been aware of the history. Just as a point of interest, I think you, Ratwar, and of course Daveh, are the only active editors who've been around longer than I have. (I beat Nephele by 17.5 hours.) But I wouldn't say I really became involved in the wiki to any great degree until early 2008. Robin Hoodtalk 06:26, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Really? I could've sworn Nephele was here before me. She was definitely admin before I was. Although it's occurred to me that my first few edits were made a while before I became a regular - separated by enough time that I forgot I'd already created an account and thought someone had actually stolen my nickname. Hence "TheReal-" part. I'm just "Lurlock" everywhere else. Though if I ever activate that "TheFakeLurlock" account as a bot, it'll be a perfect fit... --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:30, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, Nephele was one of our earlier Admins, certainly the earliest of those that are still active, so that's probably what you're thinking of. I do seem to remember you mentioning somewhere before how Lurlock became TheRealLurlock, but I wouldn't have remembered it without the reminder. :) Robin Hoodtalk 23:40, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Geez, I feel old just reading this, and I'm pretty sure you guys beat me by at least a year. And holy crap, good to see you again, Lurlock! How's the Going Back to School Club treating ya? –Eshetalk 23:56, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

() School is great - crazy difficult at times, but it's good to be challenged sometimes. I'm on break now, but using the time to become an expert in particle-engines, which will ultimately be my thesis piece. I've already got one job offer at Google, but I'm holding out until I finish the program - I see that as a kind of fall-back if none of the game companies are hiring. I know I could probably get a job at EA if I wanted it - more than a third of the graduates of this program seem to end up there. I'm just not that into sports games, which is all they do at this branch of EA. Of course I'll be talking to Bethesda as well - we've got at least one alumnus there which might help. (My experience here as well as being familiar with the construction set will probably help more - I've even recreated pieces of the CS for my own projects from scratch.) Right now I'm just concentrating on getting through this program without becoming overwhelmed. It's so much work, but it's worth it. --TheRealLurlock Talk 04:22, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Duplicate MW images[edit]

If you haven't noticed my post to the CP topic, can you have a look at RobinHood70/He and make sure that all those replacements look good, that I haven't missed any, and let me know if the ones I've tagged in the bottom should be moved, please? I want to get a second set of eyes on it before I run the bot to make sure I haven't missed anything. Lastly, there's the question about which Night-Eye to use. Thanks! We may have a problem...[edit]

With your lore places project, I would like to contribute, but I am unable to add references to the edits I have made, but I will provide all the information and, if you want, tell you where I got it. Just make a note that some people are quick to hit the undo button if an article is changed without any references. Emzi43 21:01, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

You'd be better off placing this on the project talk page. I'm not a lore expert per se. (I know more than many, but not as much as some.) Putting a notice where the community as a whole will see it is the best way to get it the attention it deserves. And if you have any specific questions for any article you're editing, you should ask it on that article's talk page to have the best chance it'll be seen by someone knowledgeable on that subject. As far as undo's, we're not nearly as gung-ho as, say, Wikipedia on that. We might mark something as "citation needed" if it seems dubious, but we're not likely to flat out undo an edit unless it looks like patent nonsense (or vandalism/spam, etc.). So go ahead and feel free to contribute. Someone will usually figure things out eventually. --TheRealLurlock Talk 04:03, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Pre-Release Images[edit]

I noticed that you moved a pre-release Skyrim image to match site standards. I thought I should you know that that's not really necessary, as all of those images are "archived" and need to be replaced by user-generated images eventually on all articles they're used in. --Legoless 13:03, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I'm just trying (perhaps in vain) to clear up the Category:Pages_with_incorrectly-named_Images lists. Still don't have Skyrim, so I can't make new images for that game, but I do what I can. I definitely was not planning to move ALL the pre-release images. Just the ones that are used on NPC/Place/Quest pages, which I think is that one and one other, though there may be more I missed... --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:07, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
