Place Summary[edit]

Just some notes for things that you may or may not want to change whenever you get RoBoT to change the Morrowind/Oblivion Place Summary links:

  • Change name to Place Summary, obviously.
  • Trailing can be removed from addabove.
  • For consistency, we may want to always wrap coords in square brackets; most already are, but there are about 50 that aren't. There's some oddball entries for this parameter, though, so I'd set it up to look for #,# and nothing else (where # can be positive or negative and one or two digits).
  • prop should be changed to job1.
  • propname should be changed to jobtitle1.
  • Maybe remove all zones=1 parameters? It's up for debate, but I consider it implied that there's one zone if nothing is specified.
  • It might be nice to have all parameters lower-case, but again, this is strictly for consistency and not really that important.

Most, if not all, of these would apply to existing Place Summary links as well as the Oblivion/Morrowind ones, but there's no pressing reason to change any of them other than for consistency and removing a little code. ‒ Robin HoodTalk 08:37, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I'll probably get to work on this some time today. rpeh •TCE 09:08, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Well I've written the code. Not sure about the zones=1 thing though - when it's not there it looks like we missed it rather than we're assuming a default. I'm just doing a test run then I'll run it for real. rpeh •TCE 09:42, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Stirk Merc Notes[edit]

I updated the Oblivion Merc Notes template tonight and in doing so, noticed that the three Stirk categories that used it were linking to Oblivion for the numeric links. This differs from SI, which links to SI categories when you click on the numeric links, so I changed them. That's all fine and dandy except that doing so creates redlinks for the categories that don't exist. Since you're more aware of Stirk issues than I am (which is to say you know the name "Stirk", which I didn't till the namespace change), I'm bumping it over to you to decide whether to create categories, revert my changes or whatever else. Thanks! Robin HoodTalk 06:40, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Done, although it's another case where I wish we could use #ifexist without blowing up the Wanted Pages list. rpeh •TCE 09:30, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

ONPCRP[edit]

I'm Really sorry to bug you but I cant add my name to the House Contents of several pages I have just added (Lorkmir and The Loche's)--Corevette789 22:03, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

You need to add a parameter to the {{cleanup-obnpcrp}} tag... but sentences starting with "Well" aren't going to go down very well. rpeh •TCE 00:33, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Just a few NPCs[edit]

If you don't mind and have got a minute or two of spare time, could you check the spells with these NPCs? It the only thing that still keeps them from being in the 'Requires Final Review' cat. :)

Cheers. --SerCenKing Talk 10:18, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Ask, and ye shall receive :) rpeh •TCE 10:31, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks rpeh! On Krusty's insistence (:p) I have one more simple one to add to the list: Jayred Ice-Veins --SerCenKing Talk 10:33, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Also done! Now can I finish my sewer maps? :) rpeh •TCE 10:36, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Of course you may :p After all, we now have 30 (when Krusty tweaks the Jayred page) NPCs to inspire people to join our project :) --SerCenKing Talk 10:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

How did I do?[edit]

Rpeh, I'm new on the NPC Redesign Project and wanted to see how good I did writing about Algot the Northerner's house. So, if you can, can you tell me how I did on it? It's the second paragraph of Algot the Northerner's page. Thanks. --Bryanmichael11 02:18, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

It's detailed and comprehensive and easy to follow, which makes it a darn fine edit! The one thing I would change is your directions. Writing it as a walkthrough works, but it's usually better to give absolute positions rather than relative, so that people don't have to retrace your steps to find items. In other words, say things like "In the westernmost room" rather than relying on the direction people are facing. You've mixed your styles up a bit so in some places you do one and in others, the other.
It's a very fine start though! Welcome to the project. rpeh •TCE 23:36, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. I will make sure I give better direction the next time. --Bryanmichael11 00:20, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Wisdom of the Ages - Rodgar's Item Puzzle - Item Location Picture[edit]

Hi! I noticed over on the *other* TES IV : Oblivion resource page, http://oblivion.wikia.com, that the map picture given is incorrect, it has two items swapped wrong. I was hoping, since your item location map / picture is correct here on the uesp.net, if you could also upload and edit the one on oblivion.wikia.com with the one here so unwary adventurers who use only that won't be ripping out their hair. :D Thank you ahead of time. :D

BelGarion 07:44, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, but I'll leave it to OblivioWiki to correct their own mistakes. I have more than enough to do here. rpeh •TCE 07:47, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
I see OblivioWiki has continued their usual habit of using our images without attribution. rpeh •TCE 07:57, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about that :( --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 13:56, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

RE: Patroller Vote[edit]

Sorry, that was a typo. It's fixed now. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 14:50, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

PageLetterMenu override[edit]

Thanks for restoring that; I'd removed it during testing and apparently forgot to put it back in. Where is that used, anyway? I can see that it's forcing the link when used, but I can't figure out why you'd ever need to. Robin HoodTalk 17:08, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

It's a hack, and not a pretty one. Basically, things like the Faction pages were creating loads of redlinks to things like Shivering:Factions_Q and so on. Since those pages can never exist as we already know all the factions, it seemed sensible to add a method of removing them. I noticed that the WantedPages list had shot up by over 30 and guessed what had happened. rpeh •TCE 17:14, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Vandal[edit]

I guess RW's "policy" has some advantages... -- Nx / talk 20:26, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Sometimes, yes. Alas. rpeh •TCE 20:26, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
A note: I really don't think the warnings are necessary anymore, it's Fury again.--Corevette789 20:28, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Yes I know. But just in case, if a warning has been given, it means there are no awkward questions about the blocking policy. rpeh •TCE 20:29, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry[edit]

Sorry for feeding the troll, but I just am curious to why Fury chose me, if I did something or said something (there are plenty other people on this site more important than me) Its all so wierd, the person who's abused me most is on the internet! (Wait... I've heard that somewhere before...) --Arch-Mage MattTalk 21:29, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

I know. I'd be curious too, but the middle of a troll attack isn't really the best time to ask. And it's probably random, or somebody who had their edit reverted. Really, it's not worth the hassle. rpeh •TCE 21:35, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

RefIDs for Oblivion Gates[edit]

In regards to this edit, which gates did you mean? The ones under the Fixed Gates heading? If so, bug me tomorrow...those ones "stand out" in my mod, so it'll be easy for me to pick out the ref names, at least, and I think the actual hex IDs shouldn't be much harder. What would they be used for in the article? Robin HoodTalk 02:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

It was you asking what the id of a particular gate was that prompted me to add the tag :)
The thought occurred that it might be worth including them so that the player.moveto command can be used, but maybe it's not necessary. rpeh •TCE 07:28, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
I suspected that might have been the cause. I don't see the IDs as being all that necessary just for player.moveto. It could also start a trend of putting IDs in for a lot of other things too. :-| Robin HoodTalk 09:06, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Place Link Docs[edit]

When you have a few minutes, can you make whatever changes are necessary to Template:Place Link/Doc? (Just don't look at the history of Place Link itself. :-/) It should just be adjusting the wording around the "/Description" pages, which I believe is no longer valid anywhere, but you're more aware than I am of what you did there and if there's anything left that that really applies to. Robin HoodTalk 03:58, 20 March 2010 (UTC) / Edit: 06:01, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll try to do that later. rpeh •TCE 07:29, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations[edit]

I've just granted you patroller rights, per consensus at UESPWiki:Patrollers/Nominations/Completed. Have fun!  ;) --GKtalk2me 16:40, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

(SerCenKing's gold star moved to cookie jar)
Thank you! I think. That's quite some backlog! rpeh •TCE 19:11, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Congrats! --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 21:15, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Belated congratulations from me as well. Dlarsh(T,C) 00:05, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

bear rolling[edit]

hi rpeh i was just wondering why you keep changeing the bear rolling thing on the things to do when youre bored page cause i was the one who made it and i know tha dosen't matter but now it's nothing like it is cause it says something like"first find a high mountin and find a bear.kill it and use area effect spells to see how you can lunch it!"and it's not bear launching so yeah--GUM!!! 13:56, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Less is more. There's certainly no reason a brown bear works better than a black one. Using grab isn't going to get a bear going very far either. rpeh •TCE 14:01, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
true but it's not launching it's rolling so mabie change it a little?and i once got a bear to roll down a entire mountin and it was pretty funny!so i'll take a go at it--GUM!!! 14:08, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
sorry if i'm talking to much but i did it and wanted youre opinyon on it?--GUM!!! 14:33, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Lovely. rpeh •TCE 17:26, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

hey again but i'm just telling you that i'm makeing another minor edit and would like youre opinyon on it?--GUM!!! 23:17, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

"Race should be capitalised"[edit]

Can I just confirm that this is the case? Races aren't usually capitalised (as opposed to nationalities, for example) so I just wanted to check that they really should be entered as Dunmer and Bosmer instead of dunmer and bosmer, for example. I do think it's a little strange that they would be written with capitals, though obviously I'll abide by whatever the style guide says. --Vometia 13:59, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Race is defiantly capitalized. They double as nationalities too really.--Corevette789 14:01, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Somewhere, and I can't remember where, there was a long discussion over this. The final decision was that races should be capitalised but classes shouldn't. I just spent a few minutes trying to find the discussion but couldn't. rpeh •TCE 14:07, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I'll bear that in mind! Thanks. --Vometia 14:21, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

O god...[edit]

Please tell me that that post you made about the retro TESV was some kind of vandalism? Pac-Man TES really doesn't sound all too fun.--Corevette789 22:43, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

My source, Flora Pilo, tells me it's genuine. rpeh •TCE 22:45, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
It looks to me like it's a puzzle/joke since Opal Firlo, Flora Pilo, Poor Flail, and Flair Pool all share the same letters just arranged differently.--TheAlbinoOrc 00:28, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
With which phrase, related to the 1st of April do they share those letters? rpeh •TCE 01:09, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
(Laughs) April Fool.--TheAlbinoOrc 02:14, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
